Damon Huard will start against the Chargers in Week 13, as Brodie Croyle has been ruled out due to a bruised back, the AP reports. Huard's best game of the season (284 yards, two scores) came against the Chargers in Week 4, but we don't expect Damon to hit those numbers this time around. He's not a good fantasy start.

Damon Huard was knocked out of Sunday's game after taking a big hit. He was on the sideline with an ice pack on his neck and did not return. Brodie Croyle stepped in and fared well, completing 17-of-30 passes for 192 yards a touchdown and an inteception. Whether Huard is healthy for the Chiefs' next game may not keep Croyle from taking over as the starter. Coach Herm Edwards wanted Croyle to take hold of the job before the season, and this performance may give the coach the confidence necessary to hand him the reigns.

Damon Huard will test his sore right shoulder in practice on Wednesday, and he may be able to start in Week 6. “He feels a lot better,” head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. “He’s worked out the last two days, and he felt OK (Tuesday). But he hasn’t thrown." Huard bruised the shoulder in Week 5. An MRI showed no long-term damage. Brodie Croyle would start if Huard were unable to go against the Bengals.

While the Chiefs had no exact details on the nature of the injury, Huard already has been ruled out for Week 6, according to the KC Star. Brodie Croyle will be the starter for the Chiefs when they face the Bengals this week and will have a chance to claim the job going forward.

Damon Huard was unable to complete Sunday's game. The Chiefs quarterback was knocked out of the contest late in the fourth quarter with a bruised shoulder, according to the AP. Huard had 196 yards passing, an interception and no touchdowns before Brodie Croyle took over. Croyle led the team to its only score of the day, a pass to Samie Parker, and would lead them in their next game if Huard is unable to play.

Damon Huard and Kansas City agreed to a three-year contract extension Tuesday, according to Sports Network. Huard played in 10 games (eight starts) for the Chiefs last season, completing over 60 percent of his passes for 1,878 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception. He stands a chance at challenging Trent Green for the starting job.
