Newsbreakers
December 3, 2008
Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is likely to stay with the team next season, despite some reports speculating otherwise, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View:Hasselbeck has been a horror show for the team and fantasy owners this year, with a completion percentage of 52.2 percent and five touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
December 1, 2008
Peter King of Sports Illustrated has been hearing whispers that Matt Hasselbeck is nearing his end in Seattle.

Our View:He has three years left on his contract, at only $9.95 million, $9.45 million and $6.75 million, which is a great price for a proven solid veteran quarterback. Perhaps the club has concerns about his health following his bout with a back ailment this season.
November 27, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck completed 22-of-38 passes for 287 yards and an interception in Thursday's 34-9 loss to Dallas. The Seahawks were held to three Olindo Mare field goals.

Our View:He registered his highest yardage total over seven games this season, but left fantasy owners disappointed with zero touchdowns against the Cowboys' 21st ranked pass defense.
November 26, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck (back) is probable for Thursday's battle at Dallas, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:He should be fine to start, and has a favorable match-up against the Cowboys' 21st ranked pass defense which has surrendered 21 scores through the air.
November 23, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck had a rough outing on Sunday against Washington, completing just 12-of-24 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. He also ran the ball twice for 11 yards.

Our View:Hasselbeck is playing for a bad offense for a worse team. Fantasy owners would do well to stay away from him for the remainder of the year.
November 23, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck, who carries a cap number of $6.3 million in 2009, could be released following the 2008 season, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

Our View:Head coach Mike Holgren is retiring after this season, which is leading to this speculation. Hasselbeck will turn 34 next September, and he has missed nine starts in the past three seasons due to various injuries.
November 21, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck fully practiced Friday, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:He looks to be good to go for Week 12 against Washington, but is not a favorable fantasy option.
November 20, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out the previous day to rest, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. The paper reports that he will be the team's starting quarterback on Sunday.

Our View:Hasselbeck got beat up pretty good last week, and numerous reports had him being nearly incoherent in post-game interviews, so a rest was likely necessary.
November 19, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck did not practice on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Hasselbeck took some hard hits on Sunday. If he can't go, Seneca Wallace will likely step back in. We'll keep you posted.
November 18, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck apologized for saying that some of the Cardinals' defenders should be fined, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Hasselbeck's comments do appear to be unwarranted so it's nice that he retracted them, by saying the Cardinals' players played within the rules and that he hoped no one on their club got fined. As of Tuesday evening, none of them have been fined.
November 16, 2008
The Tacoma Tribune's Frank Hughes is speculating that Matt Hasselbeck might have suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to Arizona. During the post-game press conference, a normally articulate Hasselbeck seemed "flighty and seemed confused" and repeatedly said he didn't know how to answer a question, something he never does. Hughes also said Hasselbeck's eyes were glazed over and that he expects some of the Cardinals players are going to get fined for late hits.

Our View:Perhaps this explains the Bald Bomber's poor play. We'll let you know if Hughes' suspicions turn out to be true.
November 16, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck's return to the field Sunday didn't go as well as he had hoped. The veteran completed only 17-of-29 passes for 170 yards while getting picked off three times to go with one touchdown.

Our View:We expect Matt to improve in the coming weeks, but it's pretty clear that this will be a lost season for him fantasy-wise.
November 14, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck is expected to start at quarterback in Week 11 after a great week of practice, according to the Seattle Times. Coach Mike Holmgren said, "I think he's had a wonderful week. He's clearly excited about being back. He had a little spring in his step and he threw the ball well. I think everyone enjoyed the fact that he was back practicing again."

Our View:He has a favorable match-up against the Cardinals' 18th ranked pass defense, but may not be sharp enough to take advantage in his first game since October 5.
November 13, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck should get the start for the team when they face off against Arizona on Sunday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Hasselbeck has been out since early October due to a back injury, but he has been practicing and should be good to go. It's difficult to say how effective he will be for fantasy owners, but one thing working in his favor is the fact that Arizona has allowed the most passing touchdowns in the NFL.
November 12, 2008
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice on Wednesday. Hasselbeck says he still has to be cleared to play by Dr. Stan Herring of Seattle, which could happen Wednesday evening.

Our View:Hasselbeck has appeared in just four games this season, but he should be able to play this Sunday. He is a reliable fantasy starter, but may struggle initially as he tries to regain his rhythm with the rest of the offense.
November 11, 2008
Mike Holmgren commented on Matt Hasselbeck's anticipated return to the gridiron, according to the Associated Press. He is expected to play this weekend against Arizona and Holmgren said, "I probably should see how he practices, but I’m assuming, I don’t think there will be any change in that. He threw the ball around a little bit last Friday, and if he does that and can do those things and he moves fine, then, yeah, he’ll probably start."

Our View:This is encouraging news for fantasy owners that held him on their rosters while waiting for him to return, but he will likely need time to get his rhythm back, and would be a risky fantasy option against a feisty Cardinals' defense.
November 10, 2008
The Seattle Times reports that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck should return to practice on Wednesday and will likely start next Sunday against the Cardinals.

Our View:Hasselbeck has played in just four games this season due to a sore back. He is a reliable fantasy starter and shouldn't take long to regain his rhythm.
November 10, 2008
Coach Mike Holmgren is "cautiously optimistic" Matt Hasselbeck will be able to practice this week and ultimately play Sunday against the Cardinals, according to the Seattle Times. Holmgren said, "Every indication tells me we’ll have Hasselbeck this week."

Our View:If Hasselbeck is able to return, he could need time to get his timing and rhythm back within the offense, and would have a tough match-up against Arizona.
November 9, 2008
Seahawks inactives: QB Matt Hasselbeck, WR Deion Branch, DE Patrick Kerney, DT Red Bryant, PK Brandon Coutu, LB David Hawthorne, OG Mansfield Wrotto.

Our View:Koren Robinson (knee) is active and will start in place of Deion Branch (heel), who is chronically inactive. Also, Lofa Tatupu (groin) is active in the middle of the Seahawks defense.
November 5, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is going to return to the lineup on November 16 against the Cardinals, according to the AP.

Our View:Hasselbeck has missed the Seahawks last five games and will be out this week against Miami. The first game back for the QB will be against the NFC West's first place team, the Cardinals.
November 5, 2008
In an effort to bring back quarterback Matt Hasselbeck slowly, head coach Mike Holmgren said he could be running the scout team this week, according to the Seattle News Tribune. If that goes well, he will take the next step.

Our View:Even though Hasselbeck is getting closer to returning to the field he again is most likely out this week. With all of the doubt about his injury, he should not be held on any roster.
November 5, 2008
The News Tribune states that Matt Hasselbeck is likely to miss Sunday's game against Arizona. Hasselbeck is still recovering from a bulging disc that is causing weakness in his leg, and coach Mike Holmgren said, "The feeling is he will play again this season. When? I don’t know. But my hope is sooner rather than later."

Our View:It remains in question if and when Hasselbeck will be able to return to the gridiron, and should not be held on fantasy rosters if there are more favorable options available, namely on the waiver wire.
November 4, 2008
Coach Mike Holmgren said Matt Hasselbeck is making favorable progress in his recovery from a bulging disc that is causing weakness in his leg, and he is expected to return "more sooner than later," according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Hasselbeck might be able to participate in practice this week on a limited basis, but it remains uncertain when he can return to the gridiron as the Seahawks' starting quarterback.
November 3, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck could return to practice this week after missing the past four games because of a back injury causing weakness in his legs, according to the Seattle Times. But even if Hasselbeck does practice, Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren did not sound optimistic he will be able to play in Sunday's game in Miami.

Our View:Hasselbeck may have landed on your league's waiver wire but he should be back at some point this season. When healthy (and with a healthy set of receivers) he is an excellent No. 2 option in fantasy leagues.
October 29, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has once again been ruled out for the Sundays match-up against the Eagles, according to SI.com.

Our View:It was once believed that Hasselbeck's injury might cause him to miss only a couple of weeks. Rumors out of Seattle say it might end up being for an extended period of time.
October 29, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's prognosis could be dire, as his brother, Tim, a former NFL QB, believes he could be out for an extended period of time, rather than the week-to-week prognosis that is believed, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune.

Our View:Hasselbeck has battled back problems this season, and has been one of the bigger disappointments of the fantasy season, as he has thrown for just two touchdowns.
October 28, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck said Tuesday a doctor has not cleared him to play because of a leg issue stemming from a bulging disk in his back, according to the Associated Press. Hasselbeck told KIRO Radio he does not need surgery, but said he failed tests in Los Angeles and was unable to walk on his heels. He added that there’s no pain in his back or right leg, just a “dead leg” feeling.

Our View:He plans to keep working on strength and conditioning and is confident he’ll get better, but is looks like Seneca Wallace will make another start at quarterback in his place this weekend against the Eagles.
October 27, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck has been sent to Los Angeles for a second visit with a back surgeon and as a result Senaca Wallace will continue to function as the Seahawks starter under center for now, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:The report didn't flat out say that Hasselbeck won't play this weekend, but reading between the lines it appears almost certain that Wallace will start against the Eagles. Considering the blitzing ways of the Eagles, the club likely wouldn't be doing anyone any good by starting Hasselbeck and his creaky back.
October 27, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck will undergo his weekly strength test Monday to determine if he is strong and fit enough to begin practicing, according to the Seattle Times. Coach Mike Holmgren said, "Until they tell me he's going to shut it down, it's going to be a week-to-week thing." The team has hired someone to work with Hasselbeck in his rehabilitation.

Our View:Holmgren expects him back this season, but admitted there is no certainty when dealing with a nerve injury in the back.
October 24, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck's knee injury is so serious that HC Mike Holmgren would not say definitively that there isn't a chance that Hasselbeck could miss the rest of the 2008 season, according to The News Tribune. "I am pretty confident he'll be back. But right now for anybody it is a little bit of guesswork. They are doing all the right stuff. He is doing all the right stuff. It's just the leg has to respond, is my understanding, the strength has to respond. The nerve has to start going in the right direction."

Our View:This is the first time that the team has floated the position that Hasselbeck could miss the year. We don't expect that he will, there is still a long way to go, but it is just another clear example that the Seahawks offense is in major trouble.
October 24, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck is expected to miss Week 8 due to a hyperextended knee that is being weakened by a bulging disc in his back, according to the AP.

Our View:He will undergo more tests Monday, and Seneca Wallace is expected to start this weekend in a favorable match-up against the 49ers' 18th ranked pass defense.
October 23, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck (back) did not practice again on Thursday, according to the Seattle Times. He has practiced since playing in New York at the beginning of October.

Our View:There's still no word on when the quarterback is expected to return, but it does not look good for him this week.
October 23, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks averaged 299.3 offensive yards per game through their first four games, when quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was in the fold. And even though he wasn't playing all that well, in the last two games without him they have averaged 176.5 yards per game, the biggest decline in the NFL, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Hasselbeck was completing under 50 percent of his throws, and had just two touchdowns, but he at least offered a history that said he was dangerous. With Seneca Wallace and Charlie Frye under center, they have been miserable. Hasselbeck will not play Week 8 either, leaving Wallace to get the snaps.
October 22, 2008
The Seahawks have now made it official. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be out again in Week 8, according to NFL.com.

Our View:The Seahawks were holding out hope that Hasselbeck would be able to play this weekend. But his back injury is just not ready yet. Seneca Wallace will get the start under center for Seattle.
October 22, 2008
Head coach Mike Holmgren still doesn't know about the availability of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, according to the News Tribune. Holmgren did not seem overly optimistic about the availabilty of his QB. He said he worked out this morning and is hopeful that Matt can work toward playing, but he will not practice today.

Our View:Holmgren also said that he will not make a decision on Hasselbeck until he sees him practice. So the QB only has Thursday and Friday to get back on the field to show his coach he can play.
October 21, 2008
On Tuesday, head coach Mike Holmgrem said that they are treating Matt Hasselbeck's injury as a day-to-day situation, according to the Seattle Times. Hasselbeck must pass a specific test before he is allowed to return. "Until he reaches that, then he probably won't play," Holmgren said. "We said last week there's a possibility he'd play against San Francisco, and will say that. There's a possibility he'll play this week."

Our View:Keep a close eye on how much Hasselbeck practices this week. If the QB can't go again this week, Seneca Wallace will once again get the start.
October 20, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (back, knee) might be able to return for the Week 8 game against the 49ers. "The last medical report is that he's feeling better each day," head coach Mike Holmgren informs the Tacoma News Tribune. "They have this measuring stick though, before they will allow him to play, that's my understanding. And until he reaches that, then he probably won't play."

Our View:That's Holmgren's way of saying Hasselbeck will undergo some tests to determine if he'll be ready to practice this week. Unlike many injury situations, we probably we have a good idea by mid-week if Hasselbeck will play on Sunday.
October 14, 2008
A bulging disc in his back, not his injured right knee, is what will keep Matt Hasselbeck from starting on Sunday, according to the News Tribune. Dr. James Gladstone, the co-chief of sports medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, said that it seems very unlikely that Hasselbeck's knee injury in any way had an affect on his back. Hasselbeck has received a cortisone shot for his back. It's not clear if he'll require any additional shots.

Our View:This sounds like something that may keep Hasselbeck out of action for a while, though we can't be too sure given how little information the Seahawks have provided on the issue. We'll update you when more is known.
October 13, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not play in the team's Week 7 contest against the Buccaneers due to his injured right knee, according to the AP.

Our View:The Seahawks have fallen apart this year, and this news certainly won't help them recover. Then again, Hasselbeck wasn't performing well anyway, to the disappointment of fantasy owners.
October 12, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not play in Week 6, and he could be out a while longer. Head coach Mike Holmgren informs the Tacoma News Tribune that Hasselbeck will need to undergo more testing on his injured right knee. His recovery has not progressed as hoped.

Our View:The Seahawks can deal (somewhat) without some of their receivers, but their offense really needs Hasselbeck to be healthy. This is bad news for the entire crew. Charlie Frye started in Week 6, but Seneca Wallace (calf) could get the call in Week 7.
October 12, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is inactive this week against Green Bay.

Our View:Charlie Frye will assume the starter's role, but we expect the Seahawks to lean on the running game this week against the Packers swiss cheese run defense.
October 10, 2008
There is a "good chance" that Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be unable to play in the team's Week 6 contest against the Packers, according to Mike Sando of ESPN.com.

Our View:Hasselbeck has a sprained knee that reportedly did not respond well to treatment administered to it this week. With Seneca Wallace also hurting, Charlie Frye is the likely candidate to get the start against Green Bay. What happens if Frye gets injured is anyone's guess, unless the team signs another quarterback between now and Sunday.
October 9, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck did not practice again on Thursday according to the Seattle Times. Coach Mike Holmgren said he wasn’t sure if Hasselbeck will practice on Thursday or Friday, either. Hasselbeck is still expected to play when Seattle hosts the Packers in a pivotal game that will reverse one team’s slide. “If Matt didn’t practice all week and could play Sunday, I would welcome him with open arms,” Holmgren said with a wry smile. “He has to play.”

Our View:Hasselbeck has a knee injury but it appears that he should still be ready to go on Sunday against the Packers at home.
October 8, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck did not practice on Wednesday according to the AP.

Our View:This doesn't sound like anything to get to worked up about. The veteran should be considered a full-go for Sunday's home game.
October 7, 2008
ESPN is reporting that Matt Hasselbeck will play for the Seahawks in Week 6. Hasselbeck hyperextended his knee against the Giants but a MRI revealed no structural damage.

Our View:It has been a rough start for Hasselbeck in 2008. He has only thrown two touchdown passes to go along with four interceptions. The number that is really disturbing is the 49 percent completion percentage.
October 6, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck's injured right knee received a positive review after an MRI was clean, according to The Seattle Times. He is expected to practice this week.

Our View:It's been a rough start for Hasselbeck and most of the Seahawks offense early in the year, but at least Matt escaped serious injury. He is obviously expected to play in Week 6 against the Packers.
October 6, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck is slated for X-rays and an MRI today after sustaining an apparent hyperextended knee during Sunday's blowout loss to the Giants, according to The News Tribune.

Our View:Hasselbeck walked with a noticeable limp after the game, and was in a considerable amount of pain. Seneca Wallace would handle the starting role at quarterback if Hasselbeck is forced to miss any time.
October 5, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was pulled late in the third quarter of the Week 5 game against the Giants. Seneca Wallace took his place. The Giants were up 37-6 at the time.

Our View:Hasselbeck stuck around after hurting his right knee early in the game, but he wasn't terribly sharp. There was no need for the Seahawks to risk any further injury.
October 5, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck returned for the next drive after injuring his right knee early in the first quarter against the Giants.

Our View:Hopefully the Bald Bomber can fight through the pain. The Seahawks have had more than their fair share of passing game pains thus far.
October 5, 2008
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck suffered an apparent right knee injury early in the first quarter of the Week 5 game against the Giants.

Our View:Seneca Wallace may need to enter the game, but we won't know until the Seahawks get the ball again. This club continues to be bitten often by the injury bug. We'll update Hasselbeck's status as soon as more is known.
September 18, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks have been devastated by injuries to their wide receivers, and coach Mike Holmgren blames that situation for quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's porous play, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "The reason for (his lower numbers) is the changes we've had at wide receiver," Holmgren said.

Our View:The receivers certainly have something to do with it, but that surely isn't the sole reason for Hasselbeck's struggles. He has a good chance to resurrect his season this week, as he faces the horrid Rams pass defense.
September 14, 2008
Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was not good against San Francisco on Sunday, completing 18-of-36 passes for 189 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Seahawks heartbreaking 33-30 overtime loss to the 49ers.

Our View:Hasselbeck is missing most of his receivers to injury, and it shows. His season has been miserable the first two weeks, and fantasy owners may want to look and see if any alternatives are available on the waiver wire.
September 7, 2008
ESPNs Chris Mortensen is reporting that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck received an epidural steroid injection in his back a few weeks ago due to a bulging disc in his back.

Our View:Hasselbeck is reportedly feeling much better since the treatment, and is obviously a key cog in an offense with a decimated wide receiver corps.
September 1, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice Monday and expects to start Sunday against the Bills, according to the AP. Hasselbeck participated in just his second full practice since injuring his back close to a month ago.

Our View:This is good news, but he will remain a risky fantasy option, especially when you consider the current state of the Seahawks' receiving corps. The Bills' defense will present a tough match-up as well.
August 25, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck did not travel with the Seahawks for Monday's game at San Diego due to his sore back, according to The News Tribune.

Our View:He was not going to play anyway, and coach Mike Holmgren didn't want to risk making his back ailment worse from the rigors of a plane flight. He is expected to be ready for Week 1, but is a risky fantasy prospect, especially when you consider the current state of the Seahawks' receiving corps.
August 20, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck is uncertain to play in the Seahawks' next preseason game due to back stiffness, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Charlie Frye is likely to get the start at quarterback Monday against San Diego. Hasselbeck's back is still sore and tight, but coach Mike Holmgren is not very concerned, and expects him to be ready to go for Week 1.
August 19, 2008
After practicing for the first time in about a week due to back stiffness, Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was forced to leave practice on Tuesday when the malady flared up on him, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:No word on whether this is a minor setback or something more serious. Hasselbeck was supposed to be ready to play in the team's preseason game against the Bears, though that could obviously change.
August 19, 2008
Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck returned to the practice field after missing much of last week and the team's preseason contest against Chicago because of a sore back, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:Hasselbeck is ready to go and will play in the team's upcoming preseason contest.
August 14, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck has returned to practice Thursday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Hasselbeck may miss the next preseason game Saturday, but should get plenty of work in during the Seahawks' third exhibition outing.
August 13, 2008
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is still nursing a sore back, and he has sat out three practices in a row, making it highly unlikely he will play in the team's preseason game Saturday against the Bears, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:This is likely just a precautionary move, as the injury is supposedly minor. Hasselbeck missing one preseason game isn't going to affect him during the season.
August 11, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck sat out practice Monday as he is nursing a sore back, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:The ailment is believed to be minor, and fantasy owners should be more concerned with the state of the Seahawks' receiving corps, which is already without Deion Branch, and just lost Bobby Engram for 6-8 weeks.
June 13, 2008
Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said surgery forced him to miss two days of minicamp, although he wouldn't say what was wrong, according to ESPN. "I didn't die, all right?" a smiling Holmgren said Thursday after the team's final minicamp practice. "No, I had a little surgery done on Monday. That's all I'm really going to say about it. I just need a little time to recover from it and we're all set."

Our View:Holmgren, who turns 60 on Sunday, is beginning his 10th and final season as the Seahawks' coach. He said that until training camp begins July 25 he will go to his cabin in Northern California to read, ride his motorcycle and spend time with family.
June 11, 2008
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren missed a second consecutive day of mini-camp Tuesday with what a team spokesman continued to emphasize was a minor but undisclosed medical condition, according to ESPN.

Our View:Holmgren, who turns 60 on Sunday and is entering his 10th as Seattle's coach, is expected on the field today. "If it was serious, we would have made sure you already knew about it," a Seahawks spokesman said of Holmgren's issue.
March 21, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks just issued an e-mail announcing a press conference today with Mike Holmgren and Tim Ruskell at 12:30 p.m. PST, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. The announcement didn't have any other specifics; however, there’s speculation that running back Shaun Alexander has either restructured his contract, or the team has signed cornerback Marcus Trufant to a contract extension. Stay tuned.
February 10, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck, like AFC representative Ben Roethlisberger, didn't contribute much in the way of yardage in Sunday's Pro Bowl, but did find Redskins tight end Chris Cooley for a 17-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the 42-30 win over the AFC. Hasselbeck was 7-of-9 for 78 yards and the one touchdown.
February 9, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks have decided on their replacement of QB Coach Jim Zorn who left to move on to the Redskins. Ironically, Seattle's new QB Coach will be former Redskins QB Coach Bill Lazor. Lazor worked closely with Jason Campbell last season and is credited with helping Campbell to become a solid NFL QB. Seattle Times
February 6, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed in principle to a five-year contract extension with Jim Mora Jr., according to ESPN.com. Mora has been promoted to assistant head coach, and will also continue to focus on the defensive backfield. This situation is similar to the one in Indianapolis involving Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell. It appears that Mora will takeover as the head coach in 2008 after Mike Holmgren retires.
January 1, 2008
Matt Hasselbeck (wrist) had a full practice Tuesday and isn't in any danger of missing Saturday's playoff game with Washington. No need to make an adjustment on your playoff cheat sheets.
