The Tacoma News-Tribune reported on Monday that the Seahawks will place their franchise tag on Matt Hasselbeck. The report states that the Seattle has already told Hasselbeck that he would be designated as their franchise player if a long-term deal can't be worked out by Tuesday's deadline. That move would give him a one-year deal worth $8.078 million, the average of the five highest-paid quarterbacks in 2004.
