Joe Jurevicius will miss the rest of the season (staph infection), but said he intends to return to the gridiron in 2009, according to the Browns' official website. He said, "I'm here to let the city of Cleveland now that I'm not retiring. I am going to come back and play football for my beloved Browns and my beloved city. I know I have a lot of gas left in the tank. I am walking off the football field with an orange helmet on my head and not with a pair of jeans on."

Our View:He may not be ready to hang up his cleats, but his best days in the NFL are clearly behind him.

Cleveland wideout Joe Jurevicius will miss the rest of the season due to obtaining a staph infection after having knee surgery, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Jurevicius may have played his final game in the NFL, as he had previously stated the 2008 season would be his last. However, he may not want to leave the game due to injury, so a return is not out of the question.

There are no signs that wide receiver Joe Jurevicius (knee) is anywhere close to returning to the field, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Our View:No surprise here. The Browns have been wishing that they had a capable wideout like Jurevicius to help out Derek Anderson, but Joe seems unlikely to play this season after multiple offseason knee operations.

Joe Jurevicius has been placed on the PUP list, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Jurevicius has had at least four surgeries on his right knee, including three for a staph infection. He will not be eligible to return before Week 7, and is not worth waiting for as a fantasy receiver.

Joe Jurevicius, who underwent three knee surgeries over the last seven months, is likely to begin the 2008 season on the PUP list, according to ESPN. GM Phil Savage said, "It's been pretty frustrating for everybody because this started as an innocent knee scope back in January, and it's morphed itself into multiple procedures So it's a bit up in the air right now. He's going to be looked at again obviously next week before we get started and probably will start on that PUP list."

Our View:The PUP list will prevent him from playing in the first six weeks of the season. He is not worth taking a chance on as a fantasy prospect, especially following the addition of Donte' Stallworth to the Browns' aerial attack.
