Newsbreakers
November 26, 2008
Deshea Townsend is doubtful for Week 13 with his hamstring injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:On a positive note, Bryant McFadden could return to action following his recovery from a broken forearm. McFadden would start at right cornerback.
November 20, 2008
QB Dennis Dixon (3rd), CB Deshea Townsend, CB Bryant McFadden, CB Roy Lewis, LB Bruce Davis, T Tony Hills, T Marvel Smith, DE Orpheus Roye

Our View:No real surprises here, as it was known two days ago that Townsend was going to be out.
November 18, 2008
Deshea Townsend has been ruled out for Week 12, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View:The Steelers play Thursday night of this week against the Bengals. Pittsburgh still has one of the best defenses in the league, so they're probably a safe start against a bad Cincinnati team.
November 10, 2008
Deshea Townsend injured his right hamstring during Sunday's game against the Colts, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:He walked slowly off the field and was unable to return. William Gay replaced Townsend at cornerback, with Anthony Madison moving into the top nickel role, hence leaving the Steelers' secondary vulnerable. The severity of Townsend's injury is yet to be determined.
September 27, 2008
As expected, cornerback Deshea Townsend will be available to play Week 4, but he will be the nickel back, and Bryant McFadden will remain the starter, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:That old saying about you don't lose a job due to injury? Not true. Townsend had been out with a heel contusion, and he lost his starting job to McFadden, who has played very well.
