Our View:Porter only contributed 47 tackles (36 solo) this season, but set a new season-high with 17.5 sacks, to go along with four forced fumbles for the 11-5 Dolphins. Porter was nominated three times for the GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week award during the regular season, and won once.
January 4, 2009 Joey Porter was held to three tackles and no sacks as the Dolphins fell to the Ravens on Sunday. He did have a fumble recovery.
Our View:Porter had 17.5 sacks this season, but went sackless in his final three games as offensive lines found multiple ways to neutralize him.
December 14, 2008 Joey Porter had three tackles, including one sack as the Dolphins held off the 49ers on Sunday. The AP reports that he went to the X-ray room after the game. A Dolphins official said the team had no information about any injury.
Our View:Porter increased his league-leading sack total to 17.5. He has also forced four fumbles and recorded 46 tackles.
December 7, 2008 Joey Porter continued his huge sack season with two more against the Bills. With the two sacks he has now recorded 16.5 on the year.
Our View:Porter is only six sacks away from the all-time single season sacks record. If he averages two sacks over his last three games he will tie Michael Strahan.
November 28, 2008 Joey Porter has been fined $7,500 by the NFL for "verbally abusing the opponent" during the Dolphins 48-28 loss to the Patriots, according to the Associated Press.
Our View:Porter will try to put last week's outburst and insubordination behind him and come up with a big effort against the Rams this weekend.
