Paul Spicer got a two-year, $8 million extension by the Jacksonville Jaguars, reports NFL.com. He will be 33-years old in August.

Our View:Spicer had 7.5 sacks last year, and 18 in the last three years. Jacksonville drafted defensive ends Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves in the first two rounds, and they will undoubtedly see some playing time.

There seems to be a growing belief that the Jacksonville Jaguars might try to package some extra draft picks in an attempt to move up from the No. 26 slot in the 2008 NFL draft, according to USA Today. The Jaguars are expected to select a defensive end in the first round, but there are only a select number of quality options available. The team might try to package some of their extra draft picks – they received a third- and fifth-round pick from Buffalo in the Marcus Stroud trade – to move into the upper half of the first round. Jacksonville recently sent assistant coaches and Director of Player Personnel James "Shack" Harris to Gainesville to watch defensive end Derrick Harvey work out at the Gators' Pro Day. The staff liked what they saw in Harvey, though they didn't want to tip their hand and come out with too much public praise.

Paul Spicer was knocked out of Sunday's game with a bruised left ankle. "It looks like it was good news on that front," said Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, according to the Florida Times-Union. The good news is that it shouldn't force him out for the postseason. However, with a playoff spot locked up, the Jags probably will rest Spicer in the regular-season finale.
