Jamal Lewis showed up in excellent physical condition and had a solid camp for the Browns, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:The club is very optimistic about the 28-year old bruiser racking up another 1,000 yard campaign. He is coming off a strong 2007 season, as he broke loose for 1,304 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 30 receptions for another 248 yards and two scores. He should rank as a safe fantasy prospect for 2008.

Jamal Lewis received a leading question regarding 2008 predictions on Thursday, and he answered boldly. "I think 1,400 or 1,500 yards is an understatement," Lewis informs the Canton Repository. "I'd like to get more than that. I think I can get more than that. Missing two games... I could have gotten more than that last year."

Our View:It's worth noting again that Jamal simply didn't throw out numbers on his own. We'd expect him to be confident, but fantasy owners will be pleased if he can hit his 2007 numbers (1,304 rushing yards, nine scores) again in 2008.

Last week it was reported in the media that Cleveland RB Jamal Lewis signed a three-year deal with approximately $6 million in guaranteed money, but those figures were a little off, according to a report at ProFootballTalk.com. League insiders are suggesting the deal will pay Lewis $6.5 million during the first season and another $3.5 million in guaranteed money during 2009. Lewis started 15 games last season – posting 298 carries, 1304 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.

Jamal Lewis signed a 3-year deal to remain the Browns lead running back according to NFL.com. “I feel the future is extremely bright for this team and I’m excited to be a part of it for another three years. I said all year long that I wanted to get a long-term deal done to stay in Cleveland and it looks like with this new contract I will be able to finish my career as a Brown.” Lewis finished fifth in the NFL last season with 1304 yards, and his rough, up the middle running style plays well when the weather turns cold. Lewis also scored nine TD and figures to be a solid RB2 next season.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns and Jamal Lewis have agreed to terms on a multi-year deal. No word on whether the package is for two or three years.
