Newsbreakers
December 30, 2008
DeShaun Foster is set to enter free agency, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Foster did not play much this season, but fared well as a starter in Week 15 at Miami when Frank Gore was out with an ankle injury, as Foster rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries. He should catch on with another club if the 49ers decide not to re-sign him.

DeShaun Foster will start for the 49ers on Sunday in place of the injured Frank Gore.

Our View:Foster could have a relatively big day ahead against the Rams, who have the fourth worst ranked rush defense in football. He is a fine option as a replacement for Gore.
December 14, 2008
Running back DeShaun Foster rushed 18 times for 76 yards and chipped in five receptions for 25 yards in the Week 15 loss to Miami.

Our View:Better than expected numbers for Foster, who could be a decent flex play in Week 16 against St. Louis, if Frank Gore is unable to return.
December 13, 2008
Running back DeShaun Foster would be the starter for the 49ers if Frank Gore is unable to suit up, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Foster has not had a good year, with just 78 yards on 37 rushes (2.1 ypc), though he does have six catches for 71 yards and one score. He would not be a solid play against a Dolphins run defense that is 11th in the NFL.
July 3, 2008
The San Francisco Chronicle continues to doubt DeShaun Foster's ability to earn playing time this season. Frank Gore and Michael Robinson have both earned substantial praise from Mike Martz.

Our View:It appears that Michael Robinson, not Foster, will be the handcuff selection for owner's who take Frank Gore early on in drafts.
