December 30, 2008 Beleaguered wideout Plaxico Burress' suspension is over, but that doesn't mean he will be joining the team in time for the Giants' run at a second consecutive Super Bowl title, according to the New York Daily News. Through a team spokesman, GM Jerry Reese said that Burress "is taking his time to get healthy and tend to the personal matters he has in his personal life."
Our View:Whether Burress' post-suspension absence from the team has been his choice or an explicit request from the Giants is unclear.
December 24, 2008 With what seems like Plaxico Burress' daily legal issues, more weapons were found in his New Jersey home when it was searched on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. The authorities apparently discovered a 9mm handgun, a rifle, and ammunition for three other guns.
Our View:If the weapons are not registered, Burress will be facing even more charges than the two felonies he's already facing. It's legal to have weapons at a New Jersey residence as long as they're registered.
December 22, 2008 The AP reports that Plaxico Burress was driving without insurance when he rear-ended a woman last May and he is currently being sued.
Our View:I'm sure there are some ignorant things that Burress has yet to accomplish, but the man is still young. If he can avoid jail time on current charges relating to discharging a gun that he was not licensed to carry in a public place, then he will have more time to accomplish such feats.
December 21, 2008 The NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports if Plaxico Burress is able to avoid jail time, the Giants could consider bringing him back.
Our View:It was previously considered a foregone conclusion that Burress had played his last game with the Giants, but it sounds like that may not be the case with the team's offense struggling without their top wideout.
December 10, 2008 The Newark Star-Ledger reports that the New York Giants owed Plaxico Burress a $1 million bonus on Wednesday, but they haven't followed through with payment. Burress was scheduled to receive that money as a deferred payment that was part of the $4.25-million signing bonus on his new contract from September. The NFLPA will file a grievance on his behalf.
Our View:Perhaps shooting yourself in the leg was a no-no in the contract. Probably somewhere in the fine print.
