Newsbreakers
January 6, 2009
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Bears have not offered Rod Marinelli a job coaching the defensive line, as had been previously reported.

Our View:Marinelli was fired by Detroit after leading them to an 0-16 record, but was a well respected defensive line coach previously.
January 6, 2009
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Bears head coach Lovie Smith has fired linebackers coach Lloyd Lee.

Our View:Smith was clearly not happy with the team's defensive play, as he has now fired three coaches on that side of the ball.
January 2, 2009
The Chicago Tribune reports that former Lions head coach Rod Marinelli is likely to join the Bears' coaching staff.

Our View:Marinelli was a very well-regarded assistant coach before the disaster that happened in Detroit, so it would not be surprising to see a number of teams interested in acquiring him.
November 16, 2008
Linebacker Brian Urlacher recorded seven solo stops and picked off a pass in the Week 11 loss to the Packers.

Our View:Urlacher's numbers have been down this year, fueling speculation of an injury. He still doesn't have a sack, and this was his first pick of the season.
November 13, 2008
Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher has been less productive this year than in previous seasons, but he maintains he is healthy, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "I feel a lot better this year. My back isn't bothering me as much. I've found a way to subside that for a little while," Urlacher said.

Our View:It sounds as if his back is still giving him a bit of trouble. He has not been a game-changer at all this year, and IDP owners likely know that first-hand, as he has less than six tackles in four of his last five contests.
