Our View:Carter has an edge as Mundy has been hindered by a high ankle sprain, and the rookie will miss his third straight preseason game tonight against Carolina. It should be Carter's job to lose, which he can do with a poor performance.

He helped improve his chances of making the club when he made two solid plays at the goal-line against the Vikings Saturday, but he later missed a tackle (on an end-around play), which he did too often last season.
