November 27, 2008
Jason Hanson kicked the 40th field goal of his career on Thursday from 50+ yards against the Titans, tying Morten Anderson for the most all-time. It was his 74th attempt from that distance.

Our View:Hanson has been the only bright spot for the Lions in the early going, as they're currently being blown out 28-3 by the team with the best record in the AFC. It looks like the Lions will lose their 12th in a row to begin the season.
November 24, 2008
Jason Hanson quietly became the sixth player in NFL history to kick 400 field goals Sunday at home against the Buccaneers, according to the Detroit News. Hanson said, "They're kind of old-man awards, when you play long enough they come. So that feels good. I just wish they were helping us more to win."

Our View:Hanson has made 15-of-16 field goal attempts this season, and is impressively 6-for-6 on attempts of 50 yards or longer.

Jason Hanson is set to return for the Lions' preseason finale against the Bills tonight, according to MLive.com. He missed the second and third games while nursing a strained thigh.

Our View:Hanson should be fine to draft as a No. 2 fantasy kicker if he doesn't suffer any setbacks or struggle in tonight's game. As a No. 1 option, he would be more risky with concerns that his injury could return.
August 23, 2008
Jason Hanson won't play Saturday against Cleveland as he continues to nurse his strained thigh, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:Hanson only ranks as a No. 2 fantasy kicker for 2008, and is not worth drafting and taking a risk that he will be healthy.
August 9, 2008
Lions kicker Jason Hanson will be held out of practice this week with a "mild strained thigh" and is expected to miss the August 17th exhibition game against the Bengals, said Dean Kleinschmidt, the Lions coordinator of athletic medicine, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:Hanson injured his "drive leg" while converting a 50-yard field goal in Thursday's 13-10 victory over the Giants. He did kick the ball off after the score before leaving the game. It's possible Hanson could miss up to two weeks because the injury involves a quad muscle, Kleinschmidt said. To take Hanson's place on the roster while the veteran is recuperating, the team signed former Michigan State kicker Dave Rayner.
