Mike Anderson, who was released by the Ravens back in February, has been suspended for at least one year for violating the league drug policy, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:During the suspension, Anderson is permitted to sign with any club, but he is restricted from taking part in any team activities. He was suspended for four games back in 2003 while a member of the Broncos for violating the drug policy as well.

The Baltimore Ravens have released Mike Anderson, according to the Baltimore Sun. Anderson has spent the past two seasons in Baltimore playing in 24 games (no starts), while rushing for 245 yards and a score. This transaction bumps RB Musa Smith up one rung on the depth chart, but the team will likely look for additional help in free agency or the draft.

Mike Anderson will be the third-down and change-of-pace back for the Ravens this week with Musa Smith out, the Carroll County Times reports. Jamal Lewis remains the starter, and he's fully expected to go despite an undisclosed illness that had him added to the injury report Thursday.

Ravens coach Brian Billick stated Tuesday that he would ride the hot hand with his running backs this week, so Mike Anderson could potentially see more work than he's accustomed to, according to the Baltimore Sun. Anderson rushed for 31 yards on five carries in Week 5, which was his largest workload since Week 1 when he carried seven times.

Mike Anderson may play fullback for the Ravens, according to the Baltimore Sun. The position isn't foreign to Anderson, who played fullback for the Broncos in 2002 and 2003. He said that his first priority was to help the team win. "We're a team, we're teammates," Anderson said. "To me, the way I look at it is we push each other day in and day out to make each other better, and we learn from each other. I bring my experience and my knowledge of things here, and he brings his to the table. We work together and share that information just to make us better."
