Rob Meier fully practiced for the first time all week Friday while nursing a knee injury, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Our View:Meier holds no fantasy value for IDP leagues, but he is a solid NFL defensive lineman, and he will be a welcome addition back to the Jaguars' rotation if able to go Sunday against the struggling Browns.

Rob Meier signed a four-year contract extension on Thursday, according to the AP. Meier said the new deal will pay more than the $2.095 million he was due in the final year of his previous contract. Coach Jack Del Rio said, "He’s been a solid, hardworking player. He’s gotten better every year we’ve been here. He probably played his best football last year. He was very disruptive in the middle. He’s got some sneakiness in the pass rush, he shows up around the quarterback quite a bit and he’s been solid for us in the run game. We’re happy with Rob."

Our View:The 31-year old is expected to replace Marcus Stroud at defensive tackle, as he departed for Buffalo. Meier racked up 27 tackles and four sacks in 2007.

Don’t expect the Jacksonville Jaguars to spend any time bemoaning the loss of defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, according to Pro Football Weekly. The team loves defensive tackle Rob Meier, who was one of the unheralded stars of their 2007 campaign. The team also thinks highly of second-year man Derek Landri, who came on strong toward the end of the season and should play a prominent role in the interior line rotation.

Rob Meier will start at defensive end now that Reggie Hayward is out for the year with a torn Achilles, according to the Florida Times-Union. Meier has started 17 games in his NFL career.
