Anthony Thomas was one of four Bills players released on Thursday, this according to the AP. Thomas rushed for only 89 yards this past year as the team's third string back behind Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson. When he injured has calf and had to sit out the team's final five games, the writing was on the wall, so this move wasn't unexpected.

Anthony Thomas will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve on Thursday. Thomas tore a calf muscle two weeks ago. The Bills were holding out hope he could return at some point this season, but that obviously isn’t going to happen. The team signed former Bill Shaud Williams to replace Thomas on the roster, but Fred Jackson will remain the top backup to starter Marshawn Lynch.

Anthony Thomas has been diagnosed with a torn calf muscle, and the Bills are not sure if he will be able to play again this year. "I’m not optimistic about Anthony," head coach Dick Jauron told the Buffalo News. "It's a torn muscle and it's an unusual tear from what I understand. Very seldom do our medical people see this by itself. When it tears it usually tears in conjunction with other things. So it's good news from that regard. But because they never see it they're not certain how long it's going to take." Thomas has already been ruled out for Week 13, and Fred Jackson is expected to get the start against the Redskins on Sunday.

Anthony Thomas suffered a calf injury that limited his playing time towards the end of the Bills' Week 12 loss to the Jaguars. "Thomas strained a calf muscle and we'll have to see how that goes in the next couple of days," head coach Dick Jauron told the Bills official website. "He finished the game really only in the third down stuff because he was having problems with it. It affected his knee a little bit."
