December 21, 2008 The Newark Star-Ledger reports that kicker Jay Feely ended Sunday's 3-10 loss dissatisfied. The Jets received a costly delay of game penalty on a field goal attempt early in the fourth quarter and then coach Eric Mangini decided to punt after it. "I was more upset about the referee not resetting the play clock," said Feely. "When he put the ball down, it was just 10 seconds left. You're supposed to reset the clock."
Our View:He had hit 13 consecutive field goals and is 2-for-2 on kicks of 50 yards or longer. Mangini decided to punt instead of attempting a 50-yard kick. He was 1-for-1 in the game on his attempts.
December 10, 2008 Jay Feely is expected to kick for the Jets in Week 15, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Our View:He has made 11 consecutive field goals, will handle the place-kicking duties again on Sunday. Feely made four field goals in the Jets' 26-17 win over the Bills in Week 9.
November 28, 2008 Jay Feely may or may not kick for the Jets in Week 13 as the decision on who will do the kicking between he and Mike Nugent (thigh) still hasn't been made, according to Newsday. "I make that decision at the end of the week," HC Eric Mangini said.
Our View:Feely will most probably end up doing the kicking, but this news clearly shows that Nugent is almost to the point where the decision between the two will have to be made.
