Newsbreakers
November 23, 2008
Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins left Sunday's game with an apparent foot injury.

Our View:There is no word on whether he will return.
October 11, 2008
Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins has been dominant in the team's 3-4 defense because he uses his impressive girth to eat up offensive blockers, freeing others to get to the quarterback, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Jenkins only has one sack and 12 tackles for himself on the year, but he clearly holds value in other places. He is very talented, but had off-field issues, which is why Carolina traded him.
September 24, 2008
Coach Eric Mangini is hopeful Kris Jenkins will be ready to play in Week 4 against Arizona despite his back ailment, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:The Jets' run defense would take a significant hit if Jenkins in unable to play, which would benefit Edgerrin James and the Cardinals' ground attack.
July 27, 2008
Kris Jenkins checked into training camp with the Jets weighing 359 pounds, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:That is considered light for him, as he weighed over 390 pounds at the end of last season with Carolina. He is motivated by contract bonuses if he keeps his weight under control. There was a $500,000 workout bonus for the offseason and a $250,000 weight clause. He will be weighed 10 times, receiving $25,000 each time he makes his prescribed weight.
May 23, 2008
Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins ballooned to over 400 pounds while with the Panthers in 2007, but he is now down around 360. "I feel great," Jenkins tells Newsday. "Doing what I have done now, I would not go back the other way."

Our View:Is there any wonder why the Panthers were eager to trade him? Jenkins was a nice addition for the Jets, but he won't make an impact unless he keeps the pounds off, relatively speaking. He has no IDP value.
