October 16, 2008 Cornerback Fred Smoot is being called doubtful for Sunday's game due to a groin injury.
Our View:Smoot is an excellent cornerback but the 'Skins should be ok if the less-dinged up Shawn Springs (calf) and Carlos Rogers (calf) can go.
September 5, 2008 Despite injuring his hip in Thursday's loss to the Giants, Fred Smoot expects to be ready to go in Week 2's matchup with the Saints according to the Washington Post. "I took a knee to the hip", Smoot said. "They [Washington's trainers] say nothing [is] out of place, nothing fractured. What is it? From a bruised hip bone to maybe a hip pointer or whatever they want to call it. I think I should be good."
Our View:Washington's defense did not look good on Thursday and an injury to Smoot would certainly hurt them. We will continue to monitor his availability.
July 20, 2008 The Redskins have been rather busy today, losing two players for the season to injury, then adding a Pro Bowl-caliber defensive end in Jason Taylor via trade, and now we have word that cornerback Fred Smoot has also fallen to injury, according to the Washington Post.
Our View:Smoot sprained his left ankle in the afternoon practice, during an 11-on-11 drill. Coach Jim Zorn said he's hoping Smoot will be out less than a week. They will update his situation later this week, but for now, it sounds like the injury is minor.
October 25, 2007 Redskins cornerbacks Fred Smoot (hamstring) and Carlos Rogers (knee) were limited in practice on Wednesday. Safety Pierson Prioleau also missed much of the session because the grass was wet, the Washington Post reports. The Redskins visit the Patriots on Sunday.
September 19, 2007 Fred Smoot was inactive on Monday night due to a sore hamstring, but he expects to practice this week. "I'm good now," he tells the team's official web site. "Hopefully, the little rest helped me [get healthy] and I won't hurt it again. I've never pulled a hamstring before, so it was kind of new to me."
