It's looking very likely that Kenny Watson will need to start Sunday against Cleveland, as Rudi Johnson is dealing with a hamstring injury and didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Kenny Watson (hip) had a limited practice Thursday, according to the Bengals official site. He's the clear No. 2 back here, anyway, so you probably don't want to roll with him at Pittsburgh.

Kenny Watson ’s concussion, suffered during the Bengals’ week eight loss to the Steelers, “subsided today,” head coach Marvin Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer Monday. Lewis added that Watson was undergoing normal procedures.

Filling in for Rudi Johnson, who was out with his hamstring injury, Kenny Watson had a career day against the Jets Sunday. He racked up 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries. Johnson may be back in the mix next weekend, and the Bengals face the tough Steelers defense, so don't look for a repeat of today's performance in Week 8 from Watson.

Rudi Johnson missed a second straight practice on Thursday, and Kenny Watson indicated he is ready to take Rudi's place in the starting lineup for a second consecutive game. "I'm preparing like I'm going to be a starter. That's all I can say," Watson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I think Rudi's coming along good. We'll see Sunday." Johnson left the Bengals' week three game with a hamstring injury and missed their week four loss to the Patriots. In a week where six teams are on the bye and a handful more quality running backs are likely to be sidelined by injury, Watson makes a solid fantasy start against a Chiefs defense that hasn't shut down the run much this season.

With Rudi Johnson ruled out for Monday's bout against the Patriots, Kenny Watson is expected to get the start at running back. Watson is a serviceable play in yardage-heavy leagues because he's a good receiver out of the backfield and the Bengals figure to be passing a lot Monday night, but don't expect too much against what just might be the best defense in the NFL.
