November 30, 2008
Quarterback Eli Manning piled up 305 passing yards in the Week 13 win over the Redskins. He completed 21-of-34 passes and finished with one score and one pick. It was his first 300-yard effort of the season.

Our View:Maybe Eli likes the bad weather. He had been held below 250 yards in seven straight games, due in large part to the Giants dominating rushing attack. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on more 300-yard efforts moving forward.
November 23, 2008
Eli Manning had a big day against the Cardinals, going 26-of-33 for 240 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers.

Our View:When Manning's favorite target Plaxico Burress got hurt early, it looked like Manning could have a rough day. But he ended up finding three different targets for scores in Kevin Boss, Amani Toomer, and Madison Hedgecock.
November 16, 2008
Swirling, rough winds may make it tough to pass in the Week 11 game between the Giants and the Ravens, the New York Daily News reports.

Our View:We doubt many fantasy owners were counting on the Ravens passing attack, but this report may make readers think twice about some of the Giants' options. We could see a run-heavy slugfest this Sunday.
November 9, 2008
Eli Manning completed only 17 of his 31 pass attempts for 191 yards but did throw two scores. The Giants beat the Eagles 36-31.

Our View:Manning has now thrown 14 touchdown passes to go along with six interceptions.
November 2, 2008
Eli Manning completed 16 out of 27 passes for just 147 yards, but also had three touchdowns opposed to just one interception. However, Manning also lost two fumbles.

Our View:Turnovers have been Manning's biggest issue for most of his career, and it has been the main source of his recent struggles as well.
October 26, 2008
Eli Manning was 19-of-32 passing for 199 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.

Our View:It wasn't Manning's best game, but it did extend his touchdown pass streak to six games. He has a big matchup against a battered Cowboys secondary next week.
October 19, 2008
Eli Manning has seen better numbers, but the Giants did beat the 49ers, 29-17. Manning threw for just 161 yards and one score on 16-of-31 passing.

Our View:Manning did not turn the ball over, but he completed just 52 percent of his passes, the lowest total of the season for him.
October 15, 2008
Eli Manning returned to practice on Wednesday and appears to be an almost mortal lock to start in Week 7, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Manninng was shaken and tossed three interceptions as he basically tried to force the ball to Plaxico Burress in Week 6, but it appears that you can start him with confidence this weekend unless something happens between now and the game.
October 14, 2008
Eli Manning told Michael Kay on ESPN Radio that an MRI and X-rays on his chest revealed no damage. The quarterback said he is just "banged up" and will be available to play on Sunday, according to Newsday.

Our View:It's good to hear that Eli will tough it out, though remember that he played through a shoulder injury last year for a while and wasn't all that effective.
October 14, 2008
Eli Manning has reportedly sustained a chest injury during Monday's loss to the Browns, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:The reigning Super Bowl MVP sustained the injury when he was slammed to the ground by Browns' defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (weighs 350 pounds) on a third-and-six completion to Plaxico Burress with 10:16 left in the second quarter. Coach Tom Coughlin could not answer any questions other than that Manning was in pain. It is unclear if he will be forced to miss practice time, or possibly any games.
October 13, 2008
Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a horrible night, completing 18-of-28 passes for 196 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in their 35-14 loss to the Browns.

Our View:That's the pre-Super Bowl Eli that fantasy owners have seen in their nightmares. We're not sure where he's been hiding, but hopefully he doesn't stay long.
October 9, 2008
The Giants are reportedly working on a contract extension for Eli Manning, according to the Bergen Record.

Our View:The deal reportedly will surpass the seven-year, $99.2 million contract brother Peyton signed with Indianapolis in 2004. That deal included a $34.5 million signing bonus. The reigning Super Bowl MVP currently holds a 99.7 efficiency rating, while leading the Giants to a 4-0 mark.
October 5, 2008
Eli Manning posted 224 passing yards in the first half of the Week 5 game against the Seahawks. That is the most yards Manning has ever posted in the first half of any game in his NFL career.

Our View:He sure is missing Plax Burress, huh? Eli has missed on only three passes. The only bad news is that he may not need to throw much in the second half due to the Giants big lead.
September 21, 2008
Eli Manning completed 26-of-43 passes for 289 yards and one score in the Week 3 win over Cincinnati.

Our View:The 289 yards were solid, but much more was expected in the touchdown column against Cincinnati. Thus far, Manning has thrown one or less touchdown pass in two of three starts this season.
September 14, 2008
Eli Manning torched the Rams Sunday, completing 20-of-29 passes for 260 yards and three scores.

Our View:If you have been listening to us, Manning was sure to have a huge game, and he came through. His TD passes went to Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer and Ahmad Bradshaw.
September 14, 2008
ESPN's Rachel Nichols is reporting that the Giants plan to throw the ball deep early and often against the Rams today.

Our View:This isn't surprising given how the Rams secondary looked last week. Manning, Plaxico Burress and Co. could be in for big days.
September 12, 2008
Eli Manning should be poised for a big week as he takes on the St. Louis Rams. The Rams gave up several big passing plays against the Eagles last week. In all, they allowed 414 yards passing to go with three touchdowns.

Our View:Manning, and most Giants, is a terriffic start this week, so get him into your lineups if you have not already done so.
September 4, 2008
Eli Manning completed 19-of-35 passes for 216 yards against the Redskins Thursday night. Manning also scored the only Giant touchdown of the night when he dashed into the endzone in the 1st quarter. The Giants went onto defeat the Redskins 16-7.

Our View:Manning looked solid in his debut. He looked early and often to his favorite target Plaxico. The Giants look well on their way to defending last year's Championship.
August 28, 2008
Eli Manning was a surprise scratch for the Giants final preseason game though it is merely a coaches decision and not an injury situation that led to the move, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Manning was scheduled to appear for about 10 plays, so it was going to be a really quick night for him anyway. At least this way he won't end up injured.
August 17, 2008
New York Giants quaterback Eli Manning will probably play into the second quarter when the New York Giants face the Cleveland Browns in their second preseason game Monday night, according to ESPN.

Our View:That is a substantial load for young Manning in preseason game #2, but he has plenty to work on as he attempts to avoid complications moving forward. Anthony Wright, rookie Andre Woodson and David Carr will follow Manning.
June 25, 2008
The NFL Network has decided to hire Bob Papa as its new play-by-play man, replacing Bryant Gumbel, according to Newsday.

Our View:Papa, the New York Giants' radio play-by-play man, received national attention during the team's Super Bowl XLII run. He is a veteran broadcaster who also calls boxing for HBO.
June 11, 2008
Thieves broke into a jewelry company over the weekend and stole up to $2 million in gold, gems and other valuables, including Super Bowl rings made for New York Giants staff members, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:The players and coaches had already received their rings last month. The staffers were to receive identical ones — white gold rings with the "NY" logo is set in diamonds and "World Champions" emblazoned in raised letters. They were designed by Tiffany and Co. and have a retail value at $25,000 each.
May 30, 2008
Eli Manning and a solid Giants defense played a perfect postseason schedule on the way to a world championship. The entire offensive unit returns intact, and absent a linebacker (Kawika Mitchell) all of the key defensive players are back.

Our View:The Giants have the weapons to allow Manning to excel this season and provide fantasy owners more consistency from week to week.
April 21, 2008
Eli Manning married college sweetheart Abby McGrew on Saturday during a sunset ceremony on Mexico's Baja Peninsula, according to CBS Sportsline.

Our View:Manning, 27, and McGrew, 24, smiled and giggled during the 16-minute ceremony. They stood on a platform in the sand as waves crashed on the rocks behind them. Isn’t that special?
April 4, 2008
Interesting tidbit from New York head coach Tom Coughlin, who revealed that after he opted to play his starters in the 2007 regular-season finale against the New England Patriots, Hall-of-Fame coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden called and left him an emotional voice mail message, according to NFL.com. On the message, Madden saluted Coughlin for his decision and the Giants for the way they played. Madden went on and on in his praise, and the message left its mark on Coughlin. He was so moved by the voicemail that Coughlin played it for his entire team the week before they played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the opening round of the playoffs. It was there that the Giants started the run that became one of the most memorable in NFL postseason history, ultimately beating the same New England team that they lost to in the regular-season finale.

The New York Giants unveiled the design of their Super Bowl championship ring on Tuesday, a white gold sparkler that will feature about 1.5 carats in diamonds, according to SI.com. The ring's top is covered in diamonds and features three Super Bowl trophies accented with marquise diamonds signifying the Giants' Super Bowl XXI, XXV and XLII victories. The team's "NY" logo is in bead set round diamonds, while "World Champions" is emblazoned in raised letters on the top and bottom bezel, with channel set diamonds on left and right bezel. The new ring will even make seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan happy. Shortly after New York won the championship with a 17-14 win over the previously undefeated New England Patriots, Strahan said he wanted a "10-table ring." Loosely defined: He wanted a ring that could be seen 10 tables away in a restaurant.

The New York Giants will host the Washington Redskins in the NFL 2008 season opener on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Giants Stadium, according to the Washington Post. The game, in which the Super Bowl-champion New York Giants will be the home team, is currently scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 4 and will be televised by NBC.
