Newsbreakers
December 2, 2008
Charles Grant has been suspended for the final four games of the regular season due to violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He was one of six players to test positive for water pills, which can be used to mask steroids.

Our View:Grant was placed on the IR back on November 5th, so this ruling doesn't really affect him unless the league decides to carry the suspension over to next season. He likely will not be suspended next year and will just not be paid for the remaining four games of the year. He would've been paid while being listed on the IR if not for the suspension.
November 5, 2008
John Clayton of ESPN stated that Charles Grant landed on the IR due to a torn triceps tendon.

Our View:Surgery will be needed to repair the damage, and he could be in jeopardy of missing spring OTA sessions with the Saints. As previously stated, Bobby McCray will likely replace Grant at left defensive end, starting Sunday at Atlanta.
November 3, 2008
Charles Grant has been placed on season-ending IR due to his triceps injury, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Bobby McCray will likely replace Grant at left defensive end. Grant had 33 tackles (27 solo), but only three sacks prior to going down.
September 28, 2008
Defensive end Charles Grant led a big defensive effort for the Saints in Week 4 against the 49ers. He registered two sacks and ended the day with five solo tackles and one assist.

Our View:Grant hadn't had a two-sack day since the last game of the 2004 season. This outing says more about the 49ers line and pass protection than about Grant.
August 16, 2008
The arraignment for Saints defensive end Charles Grant on a charge of involuntary manslaughter has been postponed, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The decision is still being made whether or not to try all eight defendants together or separately.

Our View:Grant and individuals he was with got into a fight where a pregnant woman was shot, killing her and the child. Grant was stabbed in the neck during the melee.
