Newsbreakers
December 1, 2008
David Garrard completed 25-of-35 passes on Monday night for 287 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a pick and loss to the Texans 30-17.

Our View:The Jaguars have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL and Garrard has only thrown 10 touchdowns to go along with 9 interceptions.
November 29, 2008
David Garrard practiced with Jacksonville on Friday after missing Wednesday's practice with sore ribs, according to the Sporting News Today.

Our View:Garrard should be good to go as the team plays Monday night against the Texans. He has been less than stellar this year, with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions, so fantasy owners will likely have better options available.
November 23, 2008
David Garrard completed 27-of-45 passes for 317 yards in Week 12 against Minnesota. He had one touchdown and two interceptions.

Our View:The Jags were playing from behind for most of the game, which padded Garrard's stats.
November 16, 2008
David Garrard had an ugly day Sunday, completing only 13-of-30 passes while getting picked off in the loss to Tennessee.

Our View:Garrard played very poorly in both games against the Titans this year, but you can't hold that totally against him.
November 9, 2008
Quarterback David Garrard completed 18-of-25 passes for 238 yards, two touchdowns, and no picks in the Week 10 win over the Lions. He also rushed twice for 10 yards.

Our View:Garrard hasn't had a particularly good season, but he heated up in the second half last year and might use this performance as a confidence boost. He is an okay fantasy play against weaker opponents.
October 26, 2008
David Garrard completed 25-of-42 passes for 283 yards and two touchdown passes on Sunday. He added seven carries for 59 yards on the ground.

Our View:Just like last season, Garrard is quietly gaining momentum. He has four 200-plus yard games in a row, and over that time he has a 5/0 TD/INT ratio. He has two great matchups ahead at Cincinnati and at Detroit, and he should continue to be worth using.
October 5, 2008
David Garrard completed 18-of-32 passes for 200 yards and a score in the Jaguars' 26-21 loss to the Steelers.

Our View:Garrard was pressured all night against the Steelers and with no running game at all he was forced into a lot of third down and longs. Turning the ball over is still a problem for Garrard who has more interceptions than touchdowns.
September 28, 2008
Quarterback David Garrard completed 23-of-32 passes for 236 yards with one touchdown against no interceptions in the Week 4 victory over Houston.

Our View:Garrard, missing 60 percent of his starting offensive line, also carried the ball seven times for 41 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
September 18, 2008
Jaguars quarterback David Garrard has poor numbers, at least in part because his offensive line has not been able to protect him, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Garrard has been a disappointment for fantasy owners this season, as he has only one touchdown and three interceptions on the season.
September 14, 2008
David Garrard completed 17-of-28 passes for 165 yards and one interception in the Jaguars home loss to Buffalo.

Our View:Garrard failed to notch a scoring toss and has compiled only 275 passing yards during the first two games of the season. The Jaguars are down three starting offensive linemen, which certainly isn't helping matters.
August 23, 2008
David Garrard completed 10-of-16 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Jacksonville's win over Tampa Saturday.

Our View:Garrard's favorite receivers on the night were Matt Jones and Dennis Northcutt. Many like Garrard as a sleeper this season.

David Garrard , according to the teams Official Website. “We’d like to improve Dave as a deep-ball thrower. Dave is a good seam thrower but, the over-the-top routes, we’re trying to get better in those,” offense coordinator Dirk Koetter said.

Our View:Garrard's game will continue to be the short and intermediate passes that he excels on as he did complete 64.0% of his passes last year for a 102.2 QB Rating. He may not be a breakout candidate, but another solid season surely seems to be in the cards, especially if they choose to open up the passing game a bit.
April 7, 2008
David Garrard has inked a long-term deal with the Jaguars, the AP reports. Terms were not disclosed, but the contract could be similar to the six-year, $67.5 million deal inked by Tony Romo last year.
April 3, 2008
Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver expects to sign David Garrard to a long-term contract soon. "I think you can expect something on the quarterback. I think it'll be sooner than later," Weaver said on the team's official site. Garrard was terrific last year in the first year as a full-time starter, posting a 102.2 QB Rating.
April 3, 2008

March 21, 2008
The contract negotiations between David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars have been progressing at a slower rate than many believed they would, according to Pro Football Weekly. The sticking point revolves around agent Al Irby's assertion that Garrard deserves a contract commensurate with the deal Tony Romo inked with the Cowboys, which was six years for $67 million. The Jags have countered by saying they believe Romo was overpaid, and that they don't think it's appropriate to commit such money to a player with only one year of full-time starting experience. Garrard is still likely to get a deal done before training camp, although it wouldn't come as too big a surprise if he agrees to an extension during the '08 season. The one thing for certain is that the Jags will make sure Garrard does not test the open market next offseason, even if it means slapping the franchise tag on him.
March 20, 2008
The agent for quarterback David Garrard said he hopes to reach a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the next few days, but left open the possibility the two sides won't agree on a new contract this year, according to Ultimate Jaguars. "Nothing is any different today than it was two months ago,'' Al Irby said. "It could take two days, two weeks or not get done at all. This is the way negotiations go. One minute you're going down the right track, but then a snag can set you back.'' If the two sides can't agree, Garrard would play out the final year of his current contract at just under $2 million and then become a free agent. The Jaguars would then have the option of slapping the franchise tag on him, which costs $10.7 million this year and will likely go up in the future.
March 18, 2008
David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be on the verge of a new contract agreement that will make Garrard one of the highest paid passers in the game, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. Per the report from Schefter, the Jags and Garrard met face to face in Indianapolis at the scouting combine last month and have since exchanged contract proposals. Sources report Garrard is now poised to become the next quarterback to cash in with a new blockbuster contract and become the highest paid player in the Jaguars' team history.
March 7, 2008
David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars are negotiating a contract extension and the two sides aren’t far off on the financial aspects of the deal, according to jaguars.com. Previous media reports have indicated that Garrard will ultimately receive a six-year deal in the $50 million range.
January 5, 2008
David Garrard struggled mightily in his first playoff start, completing just 9-of-21 passes at Pittsburgh, along with a pair of interceptions. Garrard did have one touchdown pass, though, and his 32-yard run on the final Jacksonville drive set up the game-winning field goal. Garrard gets a tough assignment at New England next week, unless the Titans upset San Diego Sunday.
