David Garrard is listed as active for the Jaguars, but he will be replaced in the starting lineup by Quinn Gray. The Jags are resting both of their top two running backs and are clearly treating this game like the meaningless contest it is. Garrard would only play if Gray gets hurt. Needless to say, you don't want him in your fantasy lineup.

David Garrard is active and will start for the Jaguars on Sunday. Garrard has missed the last three games with an ankle injury. No surprise here, as Garrard has practiced all week with the team. His matchup with the stingy Bucs defense is not ideal from a fantasy perspective.

David Garrard has missed the last three games with a high ankle sprain, but he's expected to start this weekend against the Chargers, according to the AP. "We think we're going to have David," coach Jack Del Rio said. "Barring any setbacks, we expect him being our quarterback on Sunday."

David Garrard , who has missed the Jaguars’ last three games because of a high ankle sprain, could return to the starting lineup this week. “I’m almost positive [about playing] if we don’t have any setbacks during the week or anything,” Garrard told the Florida Times-Union. “I think it’ll be full speed ahead.”

Barring an unexpected turn of events, it looks like David Garrard will not start for the Jags on Sunday. "I took all the reps this week, and coach [Jack Del Rio] told me that most likely, it'll be me [starting Sunday against the Tennessee Titans]," backup Quinn Gray said on Friday, according to the Florida Times-Union. Garrard has missed the past two games due to his high-ankle sprain, and though he's listed as questionable, it appears likely that he'll miss a third contest tomorrow.

David Garrard was limited in practice for the second consecutive day, but he indicated that if it were up to him he’d be in the starting lineup Sunday against the Titans. “I honestly didn’t think it was going to feel that good,” Garrard told the Florida Times-Union. “I didn’t get a whole lot of snaps with the ones [first team]. But I did take some scout-team snaps. It just felt good being out there. I’m going to leave it up to the coaches and what they feel.”

David Garrard returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity, just over two weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Jaguars’ week seven loss to the Colts. He told the Florida Times-Union he’ll monitor any swelling in his ankle and believes he’ll know by the end of the week whether he’ll be available for Sunday’s game against the Titans. “I don’t feel like I’ll be able to play my game if I’m hobbling around or gimping around or whatever you want to call it because I’ve never played like that,” Garrard told the Times-Union. “There’s payback, but you can’t let that cloud your thinking or your preparation because it’s not about me paying back this team. It’s about getting a win.”

David Garrard will be sidelined by his high ankle sprain at least one more week, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times Union. “I think he’s likely to start walking around [without crutches] and moving this week,” Del Rio told the Times-Union. “The most likely scenario would be to have him possibly return against the Titans [in two weeks]. I think it would be very difficult [for him] to make it back this week.” Quinn Gray, 7-for-16 in his first NFL start, will go again against the Saints on Sunday. The Jaguars also have veteran Todd Bouman, signed last week, as an emergency backup.
October 24, 2007
David Garrard (ankle) is expected to miss at least a couple of games, though the exact timetable on him won't be clear until MRI results are available. If Garrard suffered a high ankle sprain Monday, he could be out for several weeks. "He's got a pretty good sprain on it," Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times-Union after the loss to the Colts. Quinn Gray steps in while Garrard is out.

David Garrard is set to become the Jaguars starting quarterback, effective immediately, according to the team's official site. The team plans to trade Byron Leftwich over the next day, or cut him Saturday before the roster deadline. Garrard looked very good in preseason action, albeit he was working against backups, posting a 113.4 quarterback rating. Quinn Gray (who also had a decent camp) will slide up to the No. 2 spot by default if the Jags don't trade for another quarterback.
