Center LeCharles Bentley could be finished playing in the NFL, as he is currently a free agent and has not signed with another team after suffering serious knee injuries the last two years, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View:That would be a shame. Bentley was a Pro Bowl player who signed with the Browns as a free agent for big money, but never played a down with them after a serious knee injury. He was released by the team this summer.

It wasn't too long ago we reported the Lions had withdrawn their name from negotiations for the services of free-agent center LeCharles Bentley . Today we learn Detroit was interested, had made an offer, and Bentley said, "No thanks," according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:A league source tells PFT the Lions actually offered Bentley a one-year deal worth in excess of $1 million, and that Bentley passed. We continue to hear several teams are interested in Bentley, but the prevailing attitude is that he should sign a one-year deal for relatively low money in order to prove that he’s healthy. Bentley is looking for more, and thus we wait to see how this ends. We'll track the situation and keep you posted.

28-year-old centers with two Pro Bowls on their resume are not easy to find, so even though he has not played in two seasons, LeCharles Bentley is being looked at by at least 8 teams, according to NFL.com.

Our View:The website reports that Buffalo, Cincinnati, Miami, Oakland, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Francisco and Seattle are interested. He seems to be healthy, but after missing two years, it will be interesting to see if he can return to form.
