On Wednesday, Alex Brown did not practice due to an injured ankle, according to the Bears official web site.

Our View:It is not known what Brown's status is for this weekend and if he can't go, Mark Anderson will step into the starting role.

Alex Brown is expected to start at defensive end opposite Adewale Ogunleye this season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Mark Anderson is expected to return to his role as a situational pass rusher, as he notably made 12 sacks as a rookie in 2006.

Our View:Brown should challenge a favorable amount of tackles, but his sack potential will be compromised with Anderson in the fold.

There will be stiff competition between defensive ends Alex Brown and Mark Anderson at right defensive end, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Both players are expected to play a lot, which negatively impacts their value in IDP formats. Anderson has more upside potential, but Brown has proven to be a steady veteran during his career.

The Bears are working on inking the team's player personnel and potential free agent's according to NFL.com. On Monday, Chicago signed defensive end Alex Brown to a two-year contract extension. Brown had two years left on his existing contract.

Alex Brown was forced to leave Friday's game with a dislocated shoulder, according to the AP. The The severity of Brown's injury isn't known at this time, but it seems likely that he won't be ready for the regular season opener.
