J.T. O'Sullivan has been removed as the 49ers starting quarterback in favor of Shaun Hill, according to the Associated Press. “We just felt like right now, Shaun gave us the best chance of winning,” HC Mike Singletary said. “If he had done a good job of managing the game, then we wouldn’t be talking about what we’re talking about right now."

Our View:It can't be said that the Niners didn't give O'Sullivan a long leash given that he has thrown 11 interceptions and lost six fumbles. It remains to be seen if this means Hill is the quarterback of choice the rest of the way or if J.T. will reemerge if Hill struggles. Either way, you probably shouldn't be counting on any Niner QB to do much of anything playing behind that porous offensive line.

49ers head coach Mike Singletary said he will have to think about the quarterback situation before naming a starter for the team's next game, according to the 49ers' team website.

Our View:J.T. O'Sullivan has had very little fantasy value over the last several weeks due to his poor play. A change might be in the cards.
October 26, 2008
Quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan was yanked from the starting lineup at halftime after losing two fumbles and throwing an interception that was returned 75 yards for a touchdown by Seattle cornerback Josh Wilson.

Our View:O'Sullivan, who recently received the dreaded vote of confidence from offensive coordinator Mike Martz, was replaced in the lineup by backup Shaun Hill.
October 25, 2008
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz continues to support J.T. O'Sullivan as the 49ers' starting quarterback, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. Martz said, "J.T. is going to be an outstanding player in this league. He’s on his way. I’m not displeased with him in any sense, and I think he’s going to be fine. But he’s not where he needs to be, but we’re going to get him there as quickly as we can."

Our View:While Martz remains confident in O'Sullivan, he also admitted that he needs to limit his turnovers, as he threw 10 interceptions over his first seven games. As for this week, O'Sullivan is worth a look as a bye week filler (or injury replacement) with a favorable match-up against the Seahawks' 29th ranked pass defense.
October 19, 2008
It been a rough couple of weeks for J.T. O'Sullivan and it looks like it might get even worse. Head coach Mike Nolan told the Sacramento Bee, "we'll watch the film and we'll evaluate." The evaluation will be of the QB's play as of late.

Our View:The 49ers have lost their last four games and O'Sullivan has thrown nine out of his 10 interceptions in that time. If O'Sullivan is benched the 49ers will most likely install Shaun Hill as the starter.
