Our View:Simmons is a starting right guard, but is merely adequate as a pro and had not gotten off to a good start prior to his injury.

Our View:Simmons is the team's starter at right guard, so his absence would clearly affect the team. If he misses the game, Darnell Stapleton would likely get the start.
May 21, 2008 Kendall Simmons underwent arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder on May 14 to remove loose particles that were causing him pain, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said, "It's something I tried to hold off and be stubborn about it and get through it. I didn't want to miss any games this year because of stubbornness. It will give me a chance to recover from it."
Our View:Simmons is projected to start at right guard this season, and is merely adequate, but the team lacks depth behind him, and hopefully he will be ready in time for training camp.
