The Texans placed Fred Weary on waivers Tuesday. He had been one of the few original Texans still on the team's roster.

Our View:Weary was already on IR with a broken leg. Now he's out of a job.

Offensive guard Fred Weary was put on injured reserve by the Houston Texans, and the team will try to work out an injury settlement with him, according to Sporting News Today. Weary broke his leg last season and has not fully recovered.

Our View:Weary was the team's starting guard until his injury last season, so losing him for the upcoming campaign is a blow. Houston may try to re-sign him should he get healthy.

Fred Weary was supposed to be 100 percent recovered from his surgery to repair his tibia and fibula by now, but has been struggling since the onset of camp, according to the Houston Chronicle. Coach Gary Kubiak said, "It’s a concern right now. We thought he was in position where we could work him into it slowly. Obviously, he had other setbacks because of the surgery. He has a hamstring issue right now."

Our View:Weary was projected to start at right guard this season, but that looks to be in question now. He is a solid pro (when healthy) and would be a tough loss for the Texans' offensive line.

Guard Fred Weary remains out as he recovers from a fractured right tibia and fibula, the Houston Chronicle reports. "Training camp is what we're looking for," head coach Gary Kubiak says. "We feel good that he'll be 100 percent pretty quick."

Our View:Injuries have been a consistent issue for Weary, but it shouldn't take him long to regain his starting spot when healthy. He has started 12 games in each of the last two years for the Texans.

The Houston Texans have re-signed offensive guard Fred Weary to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Weary, a former 3rd-round draft pick from the franchise's first-ever season in 2002 (one of just four remaining members of that original Texan squad), has started 43 games in his six seasons in Houston, including 24 starts over his past two seasons. Weary was an unrestricted free agent, but the Texans has asked him to refrain from signing with another team until after the NFL Draft (sources report the team would not have signed Weary had they selected an offensive guard in the draft). Weary now has his new deal and will once again be in the mix for starting snaps in 2008.
