Newsbreakers

It is likely that the Detroit Lions will release cornerback Leigh Bodden in the offseason, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Boden is due a roster bonus of $8.6 million due in February, and would be a salary cap casualty as the team looks to rebuild.

The Lions need to decide what to do with Leigh Bodden, according to the Detroit News. He signed a four-year extension with the Lions in July, but struggled in their Cover-2 defense. When asked if he would like to remain with the Lions, Bodden replied, "If it was a coaching staff that really appreciated me and really liked what I did as a player, then, of course. That's really what I didn't get here, and it's hard to play for somebody like that. If they bring somebody in that respects the way I play, because I'm one of the best in the league, and if a coaching staff can respect that, then I'll be happy anywhere."

Our View:Bodden's poor season was among many of the factors that contributed to their winless 2008 season. Bodden was still the only Lions' defensive back with an interception.

Leigh Bodden was held out of Friday's practice to rest his groin ailment, but will start Sunday's outing against the Saints, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:This is good news for Detroit as Bodden is their only solid cornerback and will be contending with one of the best passing attacks in the NFL. As a fantasy defensive back, Bodden holds little value though.
December 18, 2008
Cornerback Leigh Bodden (groin) did not practice on Thursday, according to the Detroit Free Press. He is still expected to play Sunday against the Saints.

Our View:Bodden has arguably been the best cornerback for the Lions this season, but that does not necessarily make him a strong play. He does have 60 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception this season.
October 4, 2008
Leigh Bodden has been moved to left cornerback, where he will start, according to the Oakland Press. Brian Kelly and Travis Fisher will hold down the right side.

Our View:Bodden hasn't played well, but Kelly and Fisher have been even worse. This move has little effect in the fantasy world.
