Roethlisberger completed 25-of-37 passes for 306 yards and a touchdown but was picked off four times and also fumbled, though he didn't lose it. His play was a big reason the Steelers lost to the Raiders.

Roethlisberger is coming back from a concussion. "He feels better than he did [Wednesday]," Cowher said. "We'll see how he feels after traveling across the country." If Roethlisberger winds up having any sort of setback and can't go, Charlie Batch would start in his place. Friday's workout should tell us a lot about what the Steelers plan to do.

Ben Roethlisberger suffered only a mild concussion that knocked him out of Sunday's game, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Despite being listed as questionable, it appears likely he will play this weekend, and he could even practice as soon as today. "He had an MRI done on his brain and neck. Both of those came back normal," coach Bill Cowher said. "We also did the impact test, the concussion test. We're very encouraged by the results. We'll monitor his progress as the week goes on."

After lying on on the field for several minutes, Roethlisberger was helped to the sideline and then carted to the locker room. He said that he doesn't get headaches, there are no lasting issues from the concussion, and his knee feels better than ever. "That's really it, from time to time I still cough up a little blood here and there now," Roethlisberger said. "I could suit up and play, I feel that good. I've been out throwing a lot, I've started running again and, really, the only thing I need to regain is my strength, my football strength, which I'm not worried about because I have all of training camp to do that in the weight room. My arm feels great and my knee isn't even swelling like it did before the accident."

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Ben Roethlisberger is healing quicker than expected from the injuries he sustained in a motorcycle crash and is expected to begin throwing lightly next week. At this point, he's expected to be ready for the start of training camp and could play in the second or third preseason game. However, due to the amount of head and facial injuries he sustained, the Steelers won't rush him back into action.

Surgeons said that all of the fractures Ben Roethlisberger suffered from his motorcycle accident were successfully prepared, according to the AP. If that is indeed the case, Roethlisberger will likely miss some or all of training camp, but could very well be ready for the September 7th opener against the Dolphins. Roethlisberger suffered the following injuries: mild concussion - fractured nose - fractured facial bones - multiple head lacerations - multiple abrasions and contusions - lost two teeth - chipped several teeth - no evidence of any major structural damage to the knees - no injury to the brain.

"All of the fractures were successfully repaired. His brain, spine, chest and abdomen appear to be without serious injury. And there are no other confirmed injuries at this time." The doctors declined to release further information at the family's request.

He also lost most of his teeth, according to the report. Long term, it may be the knee injuries that have the greatest impact on Roethlisberger's playing career.

Pittsburgh local news is reporting that Ben Roethlisberger was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Monday morning. Reports from the scene indicate that Roethlisberger was thrown over his handlebars and hit the windshield of another car, and he was not wearing a helmet. Reports indicate that he was conscious and alert when he arrived at the hospital.
