Running back Adrian Peterson had only three kickoff returns in his final six games last season, but special-teams coordinator Paul Ferraro said he remains an option, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Is he going to be the primary returner? Probably not," Ferraro said. "But he's going to be an option based on what's going on in the game and where we're at, and Adrian's into it, so it's not something we're forcing down his throat."

Our View:The Vikings have Maurice Hicks, Bobby Wade and Aundrae Allison, who can all return kicks, so we expect Peterson to be utilized only in spot duty, in order to keep him healthy for his primary job as a runner.

Buccaneers' coach Jon Gruden has been heard praising Vikings' second year pro Adrian Peterson, according to the Detroit Free Press. Gruden commented, "I've never seen a guy play like Adrian Peterson as long as I've been studying film. Adrian Peterson is a superstar." Gruden is correct as Peterson racked up 1609 total yards as a rookie, in only 14 games played. He should be one of the first fantasy players drafted in 2008.

Adrian Peterson told Mike McAllister of ESPN leading up to the Pro Bowl that he believes he'll produce a 2,000-yard season. In fact, he thinks he'll do it in 2008. "Oh, yeah, I set my bar high," he said this week "That's definitely where I'd like to start." A sprained knee suffered by Peterson derailed the rookie after his 296-yard performance against the Chargers in Week 10. He missed the next two games, and even though he came back to rush for 116 yards in a rout of Detroit, he never really gained that burst, managing just 144 yards in the final four games of the season. "I wasn't fully healthy," he acknowledged. "But I don't want to make excuses." Peterson will face many obstacles next year. The lack of a quality passing game and the dreaded sophomore jinx. He will be overvalued by fantasy owners leaving the draft board as one of the first four-picks in most formats.

The NFC was aided by Offensive Rookie of the Year Adrian Peterson, whose 129 yards rushing was the first performance of more than 100 yards since Marshall Faulk had 180 in 1995. The Minnesota running back scored twice as the NFC rallied from a 24-7 deficit, earning himself MVP honors. Faulk is the only other rookie to be voted MVP of the Pro Bowl.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson earned 46 and a half of the possible 50 votes on his way to the Associated Press’ Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Peterson led the NFC with 1,341 yards and was second in the conference with 13 touchdowns in only 14 games. Cleveland tackle Joe Thomas received the other three and a half votes.
