Adrian Peterson carried the ball 21 times for an anemic total of 32 rushing yards in the Vikings Monday night victory over the Saints.

Our View:AP will eventually bust loose and make someone pay for being held down, but the guy is maddeningly inconsistent from week to week. In 19 career outings this was the fifth time he was held to 45 or fewer yards and he has now gone three straight outings without an 85-yard effort.
September 28, 2008
Running back Adrian Peterson rushed 18 times for 80 yards and two scores in the Week 4 loss to the Titans. He also caught four passes for 21 yards.

Our View:The Titans did a pretty good job of bottling up Peterson, but he still had a very solid day for fantasy owners. That's why he is a superstar.
September 28, 2008
Running back Adrian Peterson (hamstring) is active for Week 4. He was listed as questionable.

Our View:Fantasy owners should start the stud, even though he may be a bit limited by his injury and by a strong Titans defense.
September 28, 2008
Vikings running backs Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor offer a unique look to defenses when they line up in the same backfield, but don't expect to see it often, as coach Brad Childress is not enamored with the look, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:The formation has only been run twice with the team, and even though the runners claim to like it, Childress does not feel comfortable using it.
September 26, 2008
Adrian Peterson (hamstring) is being listed as questionable for the Vikings matchup with the Titans, according to The Pioneer Press.

Our View:AP figures to get his standard 20 touches this weekend even with this designation. He may not post stupendous numbers, but he should still provide plenty of value to be worth starting.
September 25, 2008
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said that his hamstring is fine, and he will be good to go against the Titans Week 4, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Peterson had been dealing with an sore hamstring last week, but that issue seems to be cleared up. Fantasy owners can expect a solid contribution from him against Tennessee, even with their stout run defense.
September 24, 2008
Adrian Peterson fully participated in practice on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Pioneer Press.

Our View:For almost all of practice last week, Peterson was limited and even missed a couple of practices, but still played in Week 3. The news of Peterson having no limitations on his practice schedule is great news for fantasy owners.
September 22, 2008
Adrian Peterson stated that his hamstring did not bother him in Sunday's win over Carolina, according to the Star Tribune. He said, "It held up. I came out feeling good, and it did not bother me in the game."

Our View:This is good news, especially with another tough match-up this weekend at Tennessee.
September 21, 2008
Adrian Peterson carred the ball 17 times for 77 yards in the Week 3 win over Carolina.

Our View:Peterson, who came into the game with questions about his hamstring. averaged 4.5 yards per carry on the afternoon. This game marked the first time this season that Peterson failed to rush for 100 or more yards.
September 21, 2008
Adrian Peterson will be active for today’s game against Carolina despite a hamstring injury that limited him in practice last week, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:It’s still expected that veteran running back Chester Taylor will get far more carries than the 4.5 he has averaged in the first two games this season.
September 21, 2008
The NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported this morning that running back Adrian Peterson (hamstring) was limited in practice on Friday and Saturday, but the Vikings are encouraged with his progress over the past couple of days.

Our View:Peterson is still a game-time decision. If "All Day can't go, Chester Taylor would handle the brunt of the rushing load against Carolina.
September 19, 2008
Adrian Peterson was limited in Friday's practice due to tightness in his hamstring and coach Brad Childress indicated that he will be a game-time decision Sunday against Carolina, according to the Pioneer Press.

Our View:Childress will consult with Peterson and the Vikings' medical staff before making a decision on his availability. He noted that he doesn't want the hamstring injury to become a chronic problem. Fantasy owners should have Chester Taylor ready to go in case Peterson is held out.
September 19, 2008
Adrian Peterson is dealing with tightness in his hamstring, but intends to play Sunday against the Panthers, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:While he is optimistic he will play, he still didn't practice Thursday and was limited Wednesday. Hamstring injuries have potential for further damage and serious lingering effects, so the Vikings will remain highly cautious with their prized runner. Chester Taylor looks to play an expanded role this week, and would start if the team decides to hold Peterson out.
September 18, 2008
Adrian Peterson was held out of Thursday's practice while nursing a sore hamstring, according to the Star Tribune. Coach Brad Childress said, "He didn’t participate today so that probably says what it says. DNP. He was limited Wednesday. It’s a concern. Your legs are your legs. We’ll just see how he comes out by the time we get to Sunday."

Our View:To make matters worse, the Vikings' receiving corps is banged up, namely Sidney Rice (sprained PCL) and Bernard Berrian (toe). We will keep you posted on Peterson's status.
September 17, 2008
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was limited during practice on Wednesday due to a sore hamstring. The Vikings don't have to list Peterson's status until Friday, according to Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Peterson has rushed for over a 100 yards in each of the two Vikings games this year. If Peterson is limited in the game, backup Chester Taylor will see more carries.
September 17, 2008
Adrian Peterson is averaging 100.3 rushing yards over his first 16 games in the NFL, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Peterson looks to stay on track this weekend against the Panthers.
September 15, 2008
Adrian Peterson broke loose for 160 rushing yards against Indianapolis Sunday, and set a franchise record for 100-yard performances in his first two seasons with eight, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:There should be plenty more 100-yard outings from the Vikings' stud rusher this season. Peterson also set a team record for rushing yards in the first quarter (72) and registered the fifth-best rushing total for a half (118) in team history.
September 14, 2008
The Vikings failed to beat the Colts at home in Week 2 despite the best efforts of Adrian Peterson. AD ran for 160 yards on 29 carries while adding 20 yards on four catches.

Our View:Two games, two 100-yard effort for Peterson.
September 8, 2008
Adrian Peterson rushed 19 times for 103 yards and a touchdown and also caught an 11-yard pass in the Vikings' Week 1 loss.

Our View:Peterson handled most the load for the Vikings and looked as explosive as ever. He gave fantasy owners exactly what they paid for, 100+ yards and a TD.
August 15, 2008
Vikings' O.C. Darrell Bevell stated that he expects Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor to have less rushing attempts this season and more pass receptions, according to the Pioneer Press. The Vikings offense is looking to be more balanced this season, and Bevell added that he feels the team has two No. 1 backs with Peterson and Taylor.

Our View:Peterson ranks No. 2 among fantasy backs behind only LaDainian Tomlinson, and his scoring in PPR leagues looks to increase based on this news. Less carries could also keep him healthier over the stretch run of the season, when fantasy owners need him the most.
August 2, 2008
Adrian Peterson is confident and comfortable as the Vikings' offensive leader as he prepares for his second NFL campaign, according to the Star Tribune. He feels like a more complete back, capable of playing on every down. He has worked hard to gain a better understanding of blocking schemes, as well as working on being a more patient runner. Running backs coach Eric Bieniemy said, "He's stepping up his game professionally. He's taking his playbook home. Things are starting to make a little bit more sense to him. I think that's the giant step he's taking forward."

Our View:Peterson has also stated on several occasions that he set a personal goal to reach the 2,000-yard mark this season. He is confident, and fantasy owners should feel confident taking him off the board with a high first-round pick on draft day.
July 31, 2008
The Star Tribune reports that Adrian Peterson has put on a show in the first week of training camp and reported in better shape than anyone on the team.

Our View:Not a big surprise here, but this bit of news re-enforces a lot of pundits that call All-Day the sound number two overall selection (behind LaDanian Tomlinson) in fantasy drafts. The biggest concern with Peterson will be his health, so be sure to handcuff him with his backup Chester Taylor, who had seven touchdowns last season, in later rounds of the draft.
July 26, 2008
Reports out of Minnesota claim the efforts in training camp are aimed at improving the patience of star rusher Adrian Peterson , according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Our View:The team notes Peterson was too anxious to make big plays and failed to adjust to the evolved defenses teams started to throw his way upon realizing his true potential. As such, the team is working with Peterson to improve his vision, to allow those offensive line blocks progress in front of him, and to seek small-yet-beneficial gains rather than constantly seeking the highlight-reel burst. Imagine if the lessons take hold fantasy owners, avoiding the dreaded Barry Sanders syndrome (three two-yard losses followed by the 15-yard gain) to find positive yards with each carry of the football. We already know the kid is as talented as any player on the field, and now the Vikes are looking to improve his overall game.
May 28, 2008
Running back Adrian Peterson had only three kickoff returns in his final six games last season, but special-teams coordinator Paul Ferraro said he remains an option, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Is he going to be the primary returner? Probably not," Ferraro said. "But he's going to be an option based on what's going on in the game and where we're at, and Adrian's into it, so it's not something we're forcing down his throat."

Our View:The Vikings have Maurice Hicks, Bobby Wade and Aundrae Allison, who can all return kicks, so we expect Peterson to be utilized only in spot duty, in order to keep him healthy for his primary job as a runner.
April 11, 2008
Buccaneers' coach Jon Gruden has been heard praising Vikings' second year pro Adrian Peterson, according to the Detroit Free Press. Gruden commented, "I've never seen a guy play like Adrian Peterson as long as I've been studying film. Adrian Peterson is a superstar." Gruden is correct as Peterson racked up 1609 total yards as a rookie, in only 14 games played. He should be one of the first fantasy players drafted in 2008.
February 10, 2008
Adrian Peterson told Mike McAllister of ESPN leading up to the Pro Bowl that he believes he'll produce a 2,000-yard season. In fact, he thinks he'll do it in 2008. "Oh, yeah, I set my bar high," he said this week "That's definitely where I'd like to start." A sprained knee suffered by Peterson derailed the rookie after his 296-yard performance against the Chargers in Week 10. He missed the next two games, and even though he came back to rush for 116 yards in a rout of Detroit, he never really gained that burst, managing just 144 yards in the final four games of the season. "I wasn't fully healthy," he acknowledged. "But I don't want to make excuses." Peterson will face many obstacles next year. The lack of a quality passing game and the dreaded sophomore jinx. He will be overvalued by fantasy owners leaving the draft board as one of the first four-picks in most formats.
February 10, 2008
The NFC was aided by Offensive Rookie of the Year Adrian Peterson, whose 129 yards rushing was the first performance of more than 100 yards since Marshall Faulk had 180 in 1995. The Minnesota running back scored twice as the NFC rallied from a 24-7 deficit, earning himself MVP honors. Faulk is the only other rookie to be voted MVP of the Pro Bowl.
January 2, 2008
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson earned 46 and a half of the possible 50 votes on his way to the Associated Press’ Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Peterson led the NFC with 1,341 yards and was second in the conference with 13 touchdowns in only 14 games. Cleveland tackle Joe Thomas received the other three and a half votes.
