August 11, 2008 Todd Watkins has a shot to make the Raiders this season, according to the SF Chronicle. He registered a team-high 39 receiving yards in Friday's preseason outing against the 49ers and coach Lane Kiffin said, "He's really pushing to make this team. You can't ask much more out of him right now for what he does. He keeps making plays." He has also performed well on special teams, which will help his chances to make the club.
Our View:Javon Walker, Ronald Curry, and Drew Carter are all locks to make the team, and Johnnie Lee Higgins is also likely safe. That will leave Watkins to fight with rookies Arman Shields and Chaz Schilens for the final roster spots at receiver. If Watkins does make the team, he would not see the field enough to make him fantasy worthy.
