Reed Doughty is favorably recovering from lumbar fusion surgery, underwent 10 days ago, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The young safety will begin pool rehab soon and hopes to be running in two-to-four months. Barring a setback, he should be ready to fully practice in time for spring OTA's.

Reed Doughty is headed for the season-ending IR due to a nerve problem in his back, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Rookie Chris Horton will likely replace him at strong safety, hence increasing the ballhawk's value for IDP leagues.

Reed Doughty expects to miss Week 6 due to a nerve problem in his back, according to the Washington Post. He said it looks doubtful for him to play, but still did not rule out practicing Friday.

Our View:If unable to go, rookie Chris Horton would likely replace him at strong safety. Horton has more big-play ability than Doughty, and could rank as a solid IDP sleeper this weekend against the Rams if called into action.

Defensive coordinator Greg Blache indicated that Reed Doughty will remain the Redskins' starting strong safety despite rookie Chris Horton's impressive outing in Week 2, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Horton provides more big-play ability (evidenced by his two interceptions and forced fumble in Week 2 against New Orleans), but Doughty is a bigger hitter and more reliable overall. The pair could rotate depending on the game situation, but Doughty should remain the more productive safety.
September 15, 2008
Reed Doughty missed Sunday's game against the Saints due to a case of the stomach flu, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Chris Horton replaced him and broke out with two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the Redskins' 29-24 win. Doughty looks to remain the starter, but Horton should remain on the fantasy radar. He likely earned more playing time, and could push Doughty if he continues to perform well. Horton is a seventh-round rookie out of UCLA.
