The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that former San Francisco head coach Mike Nolan is the leading candidate to become the Packers' defensive coordinator.

Our View:The two will switch roles, as McCarthy was Nolan's offensive coordinator in Green Bay three years ago.

The National Football Post reports that the Packers have fired defensive coordinator Bob Sanders.

Our View:The Packers lost a bevy close games this seasons and it appears that they have determined the root of their problem. No word yet on his replacement.

It is possible that Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk will be moved to the middle on a permanent basis, depending on a number of factors, including how swiftly Nick Barnett recovers from his knee injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Hawk filled in for Barnett and did fairly well at the end of the season. The Packers say they will have an out and out competition for all linebacker jobs next season, as they were disappointed with their performances this year.

Our View:In the last three games, Hawk has compiled 22 tackles (17 solo) and one sack.

Pro Football Weekly reports that Green Bay defensive coordinator Bob Sanders could get the axe after this season due to the team's defensive struggles.

Our View:The Packers were a solid unit last season, coming in at 11th in yards allowed per game. This year, they've slid all the way back to 23rd.
