September 9, 2008 Bernard Pollard apologized for the collision that ended Tom Brady's season in Week 1 and insists he is not a dirty player and the hit was not intential, according to the Boston Globe. He said, "People can call me a dirty player. You can call me whatever you want to call me. It's not a dirty play. Anybody who has 230 pounds on their back, and you're trying to go forward, you know things will happen. I saw the ball was still in Brady's hand, and I tried to get to him. I tried to get up and get to him, but I couldn't get up, so I just tried to grab him. It was not an intentional play."
Our View:Pollard was not fined for the unfortunate incident, to the dismay of Vince Wilfork, who was fined $12,500 for hitting the knee of Bills' quarterback JP Losman with his arm on a similar play last season.
