Newsbreakers
November 24, 2008
Ernie Sims was out of action for most of the second half of Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay due to a knee injury, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The club is yet to determine the severity of his ailment. He is the anchor of the Lions' defense with 74 tackles (46 solo), and would be a tough loss for an already weak unit if forced to miss time.

Lions coach Rod Marinelli admitted what everyone who watches football already knows - that nobody is making plays, and that he and the team have failed, according to MLive.com. "Have we failed? Yes. Have I failed? Yes. Am I going to give up? No way. Am I discouraged? No way, I'm not," remarked Marinelli.

Our View:Good for Marinelli if he truly is not discouraged, but that is little consolation for Lions fans, whose team has a realistic shot of going 0-16.

Ernie Sims was limited in Friday's practice due to a shoulder ailment, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:He was hindered by the injury last week as he only mustered four tackles against Chicago, and will remain a risky fantasy option in Week 10 against Jacksonville.
October 26, 2008
Linebacker Ernie Sims exited the game against Washington in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury.

Our View:Sims left the field under his own power and is questionable to return.

The Detroit Lions streak of 51 consecutive sellouts has ended, and the team's game has been blacked out, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:It's awfully hard to blame Lions fans for not spending their money on the team. In fact, they should probably be commended for sticking around for so long. On another note, we don't really understand the need for television blackouts by the NFL. If Detroit somehow plays a great game and beats the Redskins, wouldn't it create a lot more interest if fans were actually able to see it happen?
