Newsbreakers
November 25, 2008
Eric Smith could resume practicing this week after missing the last four games, according to the NY Daily News. He suffered three concussions over a five-week span.

Our View:If ready to return to the gridiron, he would likely replace Abram Elam at strong safety. The Jets host the Broncos in Week 13, who are coming off a disapointing loss to the rival Raiders.

Eric Smith is expected to miss Week 10 due to a concussion, according to the Star-Ledger. He was unable to practice today.

Our View:Abram Elam is the top candidate to start at strong safety against the Rams, and is worth consideration for lineups in IDP leagues. Elam is a solid pro and the Jets' secondary remains in good hands.
October 26, 2008
Safety Eric Smith was held out of the second half of Sunday's game for precautionary reasons after suffering a concussion recently, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:His status for the Jets' next game is unclear.
October 24, 2008
Eric Smith was limited in Friday's practice while dealing with a concussion, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:It remains in question if Smith will play this weekend against the Chiefs. Abram Elam took reps with the first-team in practice. Both players are about even talent-wise, so the Chiefs' offense will not benefit if Smith is unable to go.
October 23, 2008
The AP reports that Eric Smith suffered his second concussion in three weeks, and his status for this week is unclear. He was limited in practice for the second day in a row on Thursday.

Our View:Smith has 24 tackles and an interception this season but he does not figure to be a strong play this weekend or any weekend for that matter.
