Carolina receiver Dwayne Jarrett ruined an opportunity for playing time by catching just one pass and dropping another last week, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Jarrett got an opportunity to play because D.J. Hackett was out with an injury. It's becoming more obvious that Jarrett is turning into a second-round bust, unless he makes great strides soon.

Dwayne Jarrett will probably be the Panthers' third wide receiver on Sunday against the Buccaneers because it is highly unlikely that D.J. Hackett will play, according to CarolinaGrowl.com.

Our View:Jarrett has been an enormous disappointment since being drafted in the second round last year. He has just two catches for 36 yards this season, and fantasy owners should not waste a roster spot on him, even though Tampa has a pass defense ranked in the bottom half of the league.

Dwayne Jarrett, who was deactivated last week, hasn't fallen out of favor with the club, he was merely caught in a numbers crunch when Steve Smith returned to active duty, according to The Charlotte Observer. “He's a guy who has done well, but at the end of the day, we had only four wideouts (activated)," HC John Fox said.

Our View:Uh huh. Team's always sit their best players when they aren't injured. Jarrett has yet to make any waves with the Panthers, and with each passing week odds are that he won't regain the WR3 role with the club that he was believed to have a shot at in the off-season.

The Rock Hill Herald states that Dwayne Jarrett has reportedly made enough progress in training camp to push DJ Hackett for the No. 3 role at wide receiver.

Our View:Hackett has a poor track record with durability, and this news makes Hackett an even riskier fantasy prospect for 2008.

Dwayne Jarrett remains inconsistent through training camp and the Panthers are still waiting for him to perform up to his potential, according to the Rock Hill Herald. Offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson said, "You know, Dwayne I think is, each day we try to make steps with him. Some days we feel better than others. He’s got to get a level of consistency that we’re all comfortable with, including himself."

Our View:Jarrett is not likely going to earn a spot higher than fourth on the depth chart coming out of training camp, and he shouldn't be counted on to make an impact this season.
