Trent Edwards missed Thursday's practice while nursing his groin ailment, according to the Bills' official website.

Our View:It is not looking promising that Edwards will be ready to play Sunday against the Dolphins. JP Losman would be called into action as the starter if Edwards is ruled out.
December 1, 2008
Trent Edwards is meeting with team trainers today to determine the severity of his groin ailment sustained Sunday against the 49ers, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:The Bills' playoff hopes could hinge on his playing status, as they were unable to beat the 49ers with JP Losman at the controls of the offense. The club has a key AFC East match-up in Week 14 against Miami.
November 30, 2008
Trent Edwards was benched at halftime of Sunday's game with a sore groin, reports the San Jose Mercury News. He commented about the injury following the game by saying, "It was just kind of aggravating it here and there and then, at the end of the first half on the last rollout, that's when it really kind of put it over the top."

Our View:There is no word on Edwards' status for Week 14. If he is unable to play J.P. Losman would get the call again.
November 30, 2008
Trent Edwards exited the game against San Francisco in the third quarter with a groin injury.

Our View:J.P. Losman has taken Edwards' place in the lineup. No additional information is currently available.
November 23, 2008
Trent Edwards had a huge game for the Bills on Sunday, completing 24-of-32 passes for 273 yards and two touchdown passes. He also added six carries for 38 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Our View:Fantasy owners cashed in on a KC defense that looked awful, and it didn't help that the Chiefs had five turnovers. The game ended Edwards' streak of four consecutive games with an interception.
November 17, 2008
In Buffalo's 27-29 loss to the Browns on Monday, Trent Edwards had another forgettable night in a growing string of them. He threw three first half interceptons while completing 16-of-26 passes and one touchdown.

Our View:He now has eight interceptions in his last four games after throwing just two in his first six. He is falling fast off of fantasy rosters and should he continue his poor performances he may fall out of Buffalo's starting lineup.
November 2, 2008
Quarterback Trent Edwards completed 24-of-35 passes for 289 yards with one touchdown against two interceptions in the Week 9 loss to the Jets.

Our View:Edwards has been posting solid yardage digits this season, but he has thrown one or fewer touchdown passes in every game this year. In the past two games, Edwards has turned the ball over six times (4 interceptions, 2 fumbles).
October 26, 2008
The Bills have agreed to a three-year extension with head coach Dick Jauron, NFL.com reports. The new deal will run through the 2011 season. Jauron's current contract was due to end after this year.

Our View:The Bills are one of the best stories of the season thus far, and they have a good, young group of talent. It makes sense for the organization to keep Jauron moving forward with that crew. Good move.
October 19, 2008
Quarterback Trent Edwards completed 25-of-30 passes for 261 yards and one touchdown in the Week 7 victory over San Diego.

Our View:Edwards is nothing more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback, as he has thrown one or less touchdown pass in all six games this season.
October 19, 2008
The Week 7 contest featuring San Diego at Buffalo has been temporarily suspended with 12:30 left in the first quarter due to power issues.

Our View:The Buffalo area has been experiencing power issues this morning. No word on when the game will be resumed.
October 19, 2008
Quarterback Trent Edwards (head) will start this week against San Diego, according to Kara Henderson of the NFL Network.

Our View:Edwards, who suffered a concussion in Week 5, said his head starting clearing up early this week. He has a nice match-up against the Chargers' 31st ranked pass defense, which is allowing 253 yards per game.
October 16, 2008
The Democrat Chronicle reports that Trent Edwards is near 100 percent and is likely to start at quarterback next Sunday. He reportedly threw very well in his return to practice.

Our View:Edwards was knocked out by blitzing safety Adrian Wilson on the third play from scrimmage at Arizona and his head slammed to the ground. He has been having a slightly better than expected season and has a respectable 93.9 quarterback rating.
October 15, 2008
Trent Edwards (concussion) returned to practice on Wednesday and participated without restrictions, according to the Chargers Official Website.

Our View:Edwards looks to to be in line to return to the lineup for the matchup with the Chargers despite some lingering concerns over his head injury that were basically put to rest today.
October 15, 2008
Trent Edwards has been medically cleared following his bout with a concussion, and coach Dick Jauron expects him to start this weekend against San Diego, according to the Bills' official website. He fully practiced today and said, "I’m happy and excited that I’m out there with my teammates and not on the couch at my house. It’s a much better feeling coming into work feeling healthy and feeling good coming off a bye week and hopefully I’ll have a big game on Sunday for us."

Our View:Edwards holds a solid 93.9 efficiency rating, and should be considered for fantasy lineups with a favorable match-up against the Chargers' 31st ranked pass defense.
October 13, 2008
Trent Edwards, who has been recovering from a concussion, fully practiced Monday, according to the Buffalo News. The Bills are coming off their bye.

Our View:Edwards stated that he expects to play this weekend against the Chargers (31st ranked pass defense).
October 12, 2008
Adam Schefter of NFL.com reports the Bills have not determined yet whether Trent Edwards (concussion) will play in Week 7. They want to make sure that he is not rushed back too early.

Our View:The Bills are facing one of the weakest pass defenses in the league in San Diego next week, so Edwards owners should keep their fingers crossed that he will be able to return. If Edwards is unable to go, J.P. Losman would get the start.
October 7, 2008
As expected, Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards did not practice on Tuesday as he recovers from a concussion he sustained during Week 5, according to the AP.

Our View:Luckily for the Bills, they have a bye this week, which will give Edwards two weeks in which to recover. He was injured when Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson put a hit on him.
October 6, 2008
Trent Edwards (concussion) is unlikely to appear in practice this week for the Bills which obviously stamps his availability for the Bills next game in Week 7 in some doubt, according to the Associated Press. "We follow a routine for any of our players that suffer a concussion, so that's what we'll do with Trent," HC Dick Jauron said.

Our View:Obviously with the bye week Edwards will have two weeks to get ready for the Bills next game, and he might need that entire time to get back to the point where he is physically capable of performing without concern for his health.
October 6, 2008
Trent Edwards suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to Arizona, but could be back for the Cardinals' next game as he has extra time to rest with a bye in Week 6, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Coach Dick Jauron said, "I just came from Trent. He was responding, but he was still a little groggy. Hopefully, he'll be fine as time goes by here. It's a good time to have a bye."

Our View:Edwards has been a solid starter so far this season for Buffalo, with four touchdown passes and a 93.9 efficiency rating. It sounds like he is going to be fine.
October 5, 2008
Quarterback Trent Edwards was carted to the locker room during the first quarter of the game against Arizona with a concussion.

Our View:Edwards was pile driven into the ground, and appeared to be favoring his arm on the sideline, but it was later reported that he had suffered a concussion. No additional information is currently available.
September 14, 2008
Trent Edwards was very efficient in Sunday's victory over Jacksonville, completing 20-of-25 passes for 239 yards with one touchdown against no interceptions.

Our View:Edwards isn't setting the world on fire from a fantasy perspective, but he hasn't committed a turnover in the first two games of the campaign.
September 4, 2008
Bills quarterback Trent Edwards has been named a captain for the upcoming season, according to the Buffalo News. Also named captain were Lee Evans, Donte Whitnerm Chris Kelsay, Brian Moorman and George Wilson.

Our View:This is clearly Edwards' team now, and though he isn't someone fantasy owners should count on, his team surely is.
August 28, 2008
As the preseason winds down there are a few things to watch. One of the bigger issues is who is going to be the Bills starting quarterback. Trent Edwards will be a game-time decision tonight as the Bills take on the Detroit Lions. According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Edwards is still feeling the lingering effects from his bruised right quadriceps muscle.

Our View:It looks like Edwards will be the starter if he comes back healthy but he will have little fantasy value.
August 27, 2008
Bills quarterback Trent Edwards was back at practice, but did not participate in team drills as he recovers from a thigh contusion, according to BuffaloBills.com.

Our View:It is not likely that Edwards will play in the team's final exhibition game on Thursday, either. He does not warrant much fantasy consideration, even as a backup.
August 26, 2008
Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Trent Edwards returned to practice on Tuesday after missing a week with a thigh contusion, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:The 24-year-old Edwards practiced with the first-team on Tuesday, and hinted after practice that he doesn't expect to play much, if at all, in Buffalo's preseason finale on Thursday against the Detroit Lions.
August 22, 2008
Trent Edwards is out for Sunday's preseason contest against the Colts due to his quad contusion, according to the official team website. He was unable to practice Friday.

Our View:JP Losman could start the game. Edwards is considered day-to-day and is not in jeopardy of losing his losing spot at quarterback.
August 19, 2008
Trent Edwards suffered a quad contusion during practice on Tuesday night. "It was a pretty deep one so they took him in to treat it quickly and try to get it before it swelled," head coach Dick Jauron informs the team's official web site. "The collision was with Marshawn (Lynch). Marshawn's knee was a little bit sore, by the end of practice so we took him off too, but he finished the whole practice, but hopefully they'll be fine as we move forward."

Our View:We'll chalk it up as a day-to-day deal for both Edwards and Lynch. They might need some more work on their handoffs.
August 19, 2008
Trent Edwards hobbled off the field after taking a knee-to-knee hit on Tuesday night. Trainers were looking at his right knee, the team's official web site reports. Edwards walked off under his own power.

Our View:We'll pass along updates as they become available. J.P. Losman would step up the depth chart if Edwards was out for a significant period.
August 14, 2008
Bills quarterback Trent Edwards threw two touchdowns in his 9-for-11 performance as the Bills took down the Steelers 24-21 in preseason action. Edwards finished with 104 yards.

Our View:Edwards still can't be a guy trusted to fantasy teams, but this performance bodes will for the young quarterback's confidence heading into the season.
June 17, 2008
The Bills finished 25th in the NFL in yards per pass attempt in 2007 with a 6.39 mark, and new offensive coordinator Turk Schonert plans to change Buffalo's figure for the better with more downfield throws as part of the solution, according to BuffaloBills.com. Trent Edwards commented, "I'm planning on going out to visit with Lee Evans and throw with him in Florida. I'll also probably be out in Arizona with Rob Royal and throwing with him."

Our View:Edwards and speed demon Evans should enjoy a boost with Schonert on board to infuse some life into a Bills' offense that lacked a pulse in 2007. Edwards is an accurate passer with a good arm and the offense should be much more exciting this season, which will translate to better fantasy numbers.
April 1, 2008
Head coach Dick Jauron envisions an offense with a faster tempo and more three-step drops, according to ESPN. Jauron thinks such an approach will help out his offensive line while playing to the strengths of his quarterbacks. "It makes sense for a lot of reasons," Jauron said. "Trent [Edwards] does get the ball out quickly. J.P. [Losman] can get it out quickly and be accurate. It will help our offensive line. It will change the tempo of the game." The Bills have a youthful foundation of skill position players, who will likely take time to come together as a cohesive offensive unit. The organization is also expected to draft a wide receiver, in an effort to increase the explosiveness of the offense.
March 26, 2008
New offensive coordinator Turk Schonert will call the plays in Buffalo in 2008, according to USA Today. Schonert, who was promoted from quarterback coach, has spent 22 years in the NFL, 10 as a player and 12 as an assistant coach. This will be his first chance as a coordinator, and he will be charged with bringing some new ideas and tactics to an offense that ranked 30th in the NFL the past two seasons. This won't be the first time Schonert calls plays in the NFL. When he was quarterbacks coach in New Orleans in 2005, he called plays when the Saints went no-huddle and were in the two-minute drill. Schonert was a quarterback during his career, so he brings a unique perspective to the play calling duties.
