Our View:With Larry Johnson serving a one-game, league-mandated suspension next week, look for rookie Jamaal Charles to handle the brunt of the rushing load against San Diego, with Jackie Battle in reserve.

Our View:Smith is questionable to return after being taken to the locker room on a cart. As a result, Jamaal Charles and Jackie Battle will share the workload for the remainder of the game.
October 28, 2008 With Larry Johnson likely out for at least another month, Kolby Smith will continue to start for the Chiefs. He has picked up just 54 yards on 25 carries this year.
Our View:Jamaal Charles is a better back, and he will see plenty of touches, as well. With the way Tyler Thigpen threw the ball last week, we could see KC pass a lot over the next month.

Our View:Smith and the Chiefs face a Jets run defense that is fourth in the NFL, giving up just 83.0 yards per game. However, they have allowed seven rushing touchdowns, which is tied for 22nd in the league.
October 16, 2008 The Kansas City Star reports that Kolby Smith will start Sunday against the Titans. Larry Johnson will not be active due to missed meetings and other team obligations.
Our View:Smith filled in admirably for Johnson when he was injured last season but don't expect much from him against on of the toughest defenses in the league. Jamaal Charles also figures to get a fair share of carries for the Chiefs.
