August 29, 2008 The New England Patriots cut four player from their roster today, according to the Providence Journal. The players released were defensive tackle Steve Fifita, offensive lineman Jimmy Martin, cornerback Jeff Shoate and tight end Jonathan Stupar.
Our View:These are the first of many cuts that will occur as the Patriots and other squads get down to the 53-man roster limit by Saturday.
May 5, 2008 The New England Patriots have signed second-year nose tackle Steve Fifita, according to the Boston Herald.
Our View:The Miami Dolphins waived Fifita during the offseason. He played in 13 games with one start for the organization last year.
April 30, 2008 Steve Fifita has been cut by the Dolphins, according to the Sun Sentinel. Fifita is 6 feet, 320 pounds, and does not fit the size needed to be an effective nose tackle in the Dolphins' anticipated new 3-4 defense.
Our View:The team drafted three defensive linemen, led by Phillip Merling. Kendall Langford and Lionel Dotson are the others.
