The Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions' director of athletic medicine Dean Kleinschmidt said safety Gerald Alexander suffered a fractured vertebra at Minnesota and likely will need surgery, but the injury is not career-threatening.

Our View:He has already been placed on season-ending IR after suffering a neck stinger Sunday against Minnesota, but it appears who should be able to return to the field next season.

Gerald Alexander has been placed on season-ending IR after suffering a neck stinger Sunday against Minnesota, according to MLive.com. The team re-signed fullback Moran Norris to fill Alexander's spot on the roster.

Our View:Alexander earlier stated that the injury was nothing major. He won't be missed by fantasy owners in IDP leagues, as he only had seven tackles.

Our View:He said the injury is nothing major. He had previously sustained a concussion earlier in the season. He only has seven tackles this season, and holds no fantasy value.

Gerald Alexander suffered a concussion during Sunday's battle with the Packers, according to the Detroit Free Press. He was injured while covering a kickoff in the third quarter. He tried to run off the field afterward but stumbled badly and fell down.

Our View:His injury has little fantasy significance, as Daniel Bullocks replaced him as a starter at safety heading into the game.
September 10, 2008
Lions safety Gerald Alexander lost his starting job, which will now go to Daniel Bullocks, according to MLive.com. Also, Manny Ramirez will replace Stephen Peterman at right guard, and Leigh Bodden will replace Travis Fisher at cornerback.

Our View:When your defense allows over 200 yards rushing, changes tend to take place. Alexander had just four tackles Week 1 against the Falcons.
