Defensive end Derrick Harvey recorded 1.5 sacks in the Week 10 win over the Lions. The rookie entered the contest with only five solo stops and no sacks.

Our View:Harvey hurt himself with a long preseason holdout, but we hope this is a sign of things to come. The Jags badly need someone to put life into their pass rush.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally signed their first-round pick, defensive end Derrick Harvey, after a 33-day holdout, according to Scout.com. He signed a contract that could be worth more than $30 million, with $17.175 million in guaranteed money.

Our View:Things were getting a little heated between the team and Harvey's agent, but this is good news for the Jags. How long it takes for him to round into shape and see the field is anyone's guess, however.

Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio is not happy with the agent for defensive end Derrick Harvey, the team's first-round selection in the draft, according to WOKV.com. "I think its more about the agent than the player. When you look at the numbers, it doesn't make sense for anyone except the agent building a client base for next year," he said.

Our View:Harvey would probably not be ready to go for Week 1 were he to report some time this week. The Jaguars increased their offer to Harvey last week, but it still was not enough.
August 20, 2008
The Jaguars have increased their offer for rookie holdout Derrick Harvey, according to ESPN. Jacksonville raised its offer on a five-year base contract from $21 million to $23 million. They added a little less than $400,000 to get the guaranteed money to a little less than $17.2 million. The max deal is now at $33 million, $16 million less than the contract given to Sedrick Ellis, who was drafted one spot ahead of Harvey by the Saints.

Our View:It remains to be seen if he will finally sign with the Jaguars. His absence is leaving the team with a void at right defensive end.
August 14, 2008
Derrick Harvey's holdout has now reached 20 days, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Our View:He is the only first-round pick still unsigned. The Jaguars had intentions of starting him at right defensive end this season, but now he is leaving the team with a void at the position.
