Week 11 inactives: QB Josh Johnson (3rd), QB Brian Griese, WR Dexter Jackson, S Jermaine Phillips, RB Cadillac Williams, OL James Lee, TE Alex Smith, DT Greg Peterson.

Our View:Earnest Graham and Warrick Dunn are both active, and we would expect them to split carries as usual. Ike Hilliard and Derrick Brooks will also play. John Gilmore will start in place of Smith, but Jerramy Stevens will also step up.

Week 5 inactives: QB Josh Johnson, S Sabby Piscitelli, FB B.J. Askew, OT Anthony Davis, G James Lee, WR Joey Galloway, DE Greg Peterson, and QB Luke McCown.

Our View:Linebacker Derrick Brooks and guard Davin Joseph are active, which is good news. None of these inactives come as a surprise. Antonio Bryant, Ike Hilliard, and Michael Clayton all step up the receiver chart with Galloway still out.

Fifth-round pick Josh Johnson signed a four-year deal with the Buccaneers, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:Johnson fired 43 touchdown passes and only one interception at San Diego University last season, and is one of five quarterbacks with the Buccaneers in training camp, joining Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, and Chris Simms. Johnson possesses solid arm strength and a quick release but needs a lot of work on his mechanics and accuracy to succeed on the next level. He will be fighting to make the roster as the number three quarterback.

The New England Patriots recently sent a high-ranking member of their coaching staff to meet with quarterback Josh Johnson for a private workout, according to the Boston Globe. As part of their draft preparation, the Patriots hold private workouts for several prospects. In most cases, they most accurately represent that the team is seeking more information before giving the player a final ranking on the draft board. Johnson ran a position best 4.55 40-yard dash at the combine and has a live arm, but his fundamentals need a lot of work. He is projected as a fifth rounder in this year’s draft.
