Rookie middle linebacker Curtis Lofton will get the starting nod Week 1 for the Falcons, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Middle linebacker Curtis Lofton impressed the Falcons in Friday's 17-3 win over the Titans, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. On Tennessee’s first running play, Lofton shot through traffic and tackled running back Chris Johnson after a 1-yard gain. The knock on Keith Brooking, who played middle linebacker for much of the last three seasons, was that he didn’t get off blocks and made plays four to six yards downfield. Safety Lawyer Milloy said, "I told him, I said look man, I just need you to run and hit. Don’t do too much thinking. You’ve got people coming behind you that can correct some of your mistakes. Today he did a good job." Lofton added, "I’m starting to feel more comfortable in the system. I’m starting to learn what everybody is doing so when I’m out there I know where every body is going and I can just go play my game." Lofton finished his night with six tackles.

Our View:If Lofton continues to fare well, the team can feel comfortable moving Brooking back to the weak side, where he is best suited to play. Lofton could rank as a solid rookie sleeper for IDP leagues if he is named the starting middle linebacker.

Falcons linebacker and second-round pick Curtis Lofton could get the start for the Falcons during the team's preseason game against the Titans, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Lofton plays in the middle and is a potential sleeper in IDP leagues. If he gets the eventual starting nod, expect him to rack up tackles on a Falcons defense that could be on the field often.
