The Newark Star-Ledger reports that safety Kenny Phillips suffered a concussion when his head slammed into the Dallas turf on Sunday. He should be able to practice this week.

Our View:Don't expect him to miss much time. Phillips is a good safety but has not been able to get himself involved in more than one turnover this season.

Kenny Phillips injured his head in the second quarter of Sunday's game at Dallas, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:He slipped on the slick playing surface. The rookie safety was averaging six tackles over his previous three games heading up to Week 15.

Giants safety Kenny Phillips, the team's first-round pick in April, will make his first career start for the team on Sunday, according to the New York Post.

Our View:James Butler injured his knee last week, clearling the way for Phillips. He had an impressive preseason, and has played some this year, collecting an interception, but he'll see his most extensive playing time of the year Sunday. IDP owners should keep an eye on him, as he certainly has playmaking abilities.

Giants rookie safety Kenny Phillips, the team's first-round pick, had people talking about him in glowing terms this preseason, but apparently did not do quite enough, as he is listed second on the team's depth chart at free safety behind Michael Johnson, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:If Phillips played as well as everyone claimed he did, then it should only be a matter time before he gains the starting job from Johnson. Phillips was a solid IDP sleeper, and still may be, but he'll have to get on the field in order live up to his promise.

If the Newark Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo knows what he's talking about, then you should expect big things from rookie Kenny Phillips this year. Garafolo says: "The kid is awesome. How he dropped to No. 31 in the draft I'll never know."

Our View:It's looking like Phillips has a good shot to start in Week 1, and he could be a sleeper in IDP leagues.
