Wide receiver Donnie Avery was held without a catch in the Week 13 loss to the Dolphins. He did run once for two yards and draw two pass interference penalties.

Our View:That's very disappointing. It's easy to blame Marc Bulger, but zero catches is unacceptable.

Donnie Avery led the Rams receiver with nine receptions for 93 yards in the loss to San Francisco Sunday.

Our View:It's clear at this point that Avery is now the top target in St. Louis, though on a bad Rams offense, that doesn't equate to a ton of fantasy value.

Donnie Avery is making strides with the Rams as he notched a season-high six receptions for 163 yards (with a 69-yard touchdown) in Sunday's close loss to New England, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He is not intimidated by trying to replace future Hall of Famer Isaac Bruce as the Rams' No. 2 receiver and he said, "I'm not worried about any of that; I can't compare myself to him. I'm just trying to make plays. That's it."

Our View:The rookie led the team in receiving Sunday, and Torry Holt only had three catches for 28 yards. Avery looks to have a solid second half, and is worth targeting if still on the waiver wire.
October 19, 2008
Rams rookie wideout Donnie Avery had a very good day for St. Louis, catching five balls for 65 yards and one touchdown. He also ran the ball once for seven yards.

Our View:The day could have been even better for Avery, but he had one TD catch called back due to penalty, and Marc Bulger just overthrew him on a deep ball where he was wide open. He should definitely capture the attention of fantasy owners for the rest of the year.
October 11, 2008
Rams rookie wideout Donnie Avery has an opportunity over the next few games to establish himself in the starting lineup, and to stay there once Drew Bennett returns, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Avery, the first receiver taken in the draft, is explosive with the ball in his hands. He has something that Drew Bennett clearly does not - speed. Plus, as soon as Bennett does come back, it's only a matter of time before he gets injured again. Fantasy owners should keep their eye on Avery and his performances the next couple weeks.
