The Buffalo News reports that rookie wide receiver Steve Johnson started at wide receiver on Monday night against the Cleveland Browns instead of fellow rookie James Hardy, who started the previous two games and three overall. Johnson also got more offensive snaps and finished with three catches and 41 yards.

Our View:Although Josh Reed is expected to return Sunday, the coaching staff believes Johnson has earned the right to continue getting playing time. He has more value than James Hardy, but hardly enough to warrant a late season pickup.

Week 2 inactives: QB Gibran Hamdan (3rd), WR Steve Johnson, RB Xavier Omon, DB Reggie Corner, T Jason Whittle, T Demetrius Bell, TE Derek Fine, DE Chris Ellis.

Our View:There are no fantasy relevant names on this week's inactive list, though it should be noted that left tackle Jason Peters has returned to the fold and should improve the overall performance of the Buffalo offense.

The Bills have inked seventh-round pick Steve Johnson (Kentucky), according to Bills.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View:The rookie receiver has good size at 6-2 202 pounds, and had a solid spring through team OTA sessions and minicamp. He is expected to make the club as the fifth receiver.

Rookie wide receiver Steve Johnson seems to make a play in every practice, earning the praise of his coaches and teammates alike, according to the Buffalo News.

Our View:When you are a seventh-round draft pick you better make an impression early and often. Johnson has been solid for most of the Bills’ voluntary practice sessions. He has impressive size at 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, which was a big reason the Bills drafted him. What stands out about Johnson is his good hands and ability to run after the catch. His route running needs polishing, but he doesn’t seem to have a problem getting open.

The Bills have been pleased with rookie Steve Johnson, according to the Buffalo News. He has made several nice catches during the Bills' OTA sessions, and team receivers' coach Tyke Tolbert commented that Johnson seems to make a play every day.

Our View:He was a seventh-round pick out of Kentucky, but has solid size at 6-2 210, and will have a good shot to make the team, when you consider how thin the Bills are at receiver. Johnson will remain on our radar.
